I feel like I did multiple things at once this evening, and yet...not much to show. I suppose because I was doing activities that have no final product: eating dinner, watching TV (including parts of the painfully bad Gilda Radner movie [livejournal.com profile] limenal mentions), finding cheap CD's, reading articles -- all while doing some LJ and IM in the background. Now it's 10:30 pm and almost bed time. I think I'll take Alice Coltrane to bed with me -- british mag Wire has her on the cover and an exclusive interview. I'm not sure I've talked about it much here, but I'm a HUGE Alice fan. It cames from Borders, remarkably. Then again, so did Cecil Taylor. Something about abstract jazz and improv meditations on Sunday mornings that cures hangovers and sleep-deprivation and enabled me to function with the customers. Though Alice is much more approachable than Cecil. I don't think I've converted anyone in my life over to Cecil, but at least Damon found Alice.

[Side note: I think I'm watching a new Blackstar video? No wait, this is from the first album -- Respiration. I just didn't recognize the beat for a second and I've never seen the video. When will their second album come out? I miss them.]

Music really is my religion, and I'm constantly proselytizing. I'm also probably get caught up in dogma a lot, but I'm trying not to be so rigid and working on reconstructing the texts. I may wear the black plastic glasses, but I'm not one of the pharisee record store workers.

Now I've switched to Comedy Central where David Alan Grier is playing Maya Angelou doing Butterfinger commercials. And Death Row Bloopers video tapes. They need to rerun this episode more often.

I think my time in front of the TV is over.
