Sep. 15th, 2001 12:25 pmHad a fitful night of sleep. Then a horoscope said "despite a fitful night of unrest, you'll feel refreshed in the morning". Hmmm. Half of it was right. I've been extremely inert this morning. It didn't help that Lisa called to inform me that our direct deposit has still NOT gone through. So I felt no need to walk to the bank, and since I have no money, I can't go anywhere else.
Last night was good. Well-needed. For the first time in awhile I actually experienced a moment of euphoria. When I looked up and saw a full dance floor moving in a way to capture bliss One More Time with the help of Daft Punk. I could get used to this live DJ thing. The other DJ was good, but I certainly didn't feel that he had too much more than me, other than more hours of gigs. And I got lots of positive feedback from folks about my set. I'm extremely thankful to have had so many friendly faces in the crowd, like Riley, Damon, Jen, Diane, Ryan, Lisa....and more..... Sad that MelRo was away, but in some ways it might have made me more nervous! I'll be excited to have her at the next gig. Oh! And I saw my buddy Ju__ last night!! We're going to hang out soon. I was quite glad to see him again. Elegant timing.
I was also quite moved last night at the event by the speakers, particularly those talking about the backlash against arab-americans and muslim-americans, and those perceived to be. I was nervous about going out to a social event, but in the end, I think Color Triangle Jam did the right things by providing a safe outlet, especially a queer one. It was fairly healing in some ways. Or at least rejuvenating so I can try to keep going.
This weekend I will try to unpack and clean and organize the apartment. It helps that I have a deadline -- MelRo's return on Monday evening. But it's hard to stay focused when there's a Lifetime movie starring Joanna Kerns on. Maybe I'll try and at least multi-task.
