music geek heaven.
Mar. 30th, 2002 03:59 pmSo my big box of CD's from online outlet shopping came today. Chet Baker, Cecil Taylor, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Wes Mongomery, Jimmy Smith, Radiohead, and Miss Jones. {cues singing "one of these things is not like the other, one of these things just doesn't belong...."}
Today was an amazing afternoon of coincidences. I attended a matinee as part of a film noir series (called "Criss Cross") with Educating Esme, and we ran into Kraftwerk Librarian and Madness Librarian. Then the four of us went across the street for food, and ran into
limenal and Clever Embittered Auntie. My elaborate stalking paid off. Or more accurately, it's a small town, especially among folks who travel in small circles. I could probably go to the Music Box any Saturday afternoon and find one of the Librarian boys. I love them so.
At lunch I had a shining moment when I referenced the McDLT. Keep the hot side hot and the cool side cool. It's generally a great philosophy of life. As most chain restaurant flop fads are.
Last night's dreams were thick and complicated, but most of the images were forgotten. Except in my dream I was listening to a song by The Coup (a fictitious song) and had figured out the sample used was either a snippet of Chuck Mangione's "Feels so Good" played backwards, or part of the theme from Shaft played backwards. I woke up this morning and tried to recreate the sounds from my dream and it didn't quite sound as good. Yet I feel sort of proud of my attempt at creativity.
It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, and despite the noir movie and the birth of cool music playing, I don't want to sit in a bar and drink and smoke myself to oblivion. I will instead go for a walk in the sun.
