The only living boy in New York
Jan. 31st, 2003 12:20 pmI finally found a use for business cards. A couple weeks ago I won a ten-dollar gift certificate at my favorite sushi restaurant. Yesterday I got a call from Jimmy John's because I won a party platter for the office. I just got done eating a third of a vito and a third of a veggie sub, and now I'm off to meet Paradise Regained for lunch. I'm filling my pocket with business cards to drop in every fishbowl I see.
Last night I did NOT play The Sims all evening. I played for awhile, finished a mixtape, played LOTR:Two Towers (big ups to Sparky!), played Grand Theft Auto III (where I picked up TWO prostitutes at a time!), went back to some The Sims, then went to bed. I read a little bit in there too. Variety is the spice of life, after all.
This morning I rode the train with a co-worker. Which was fine and all, but I really prefer having some alone time and listening to my walkman. Rebel Rebel was on! I had to turn off Rebel Rebel! Granted, it's a tape, which means it will still be on when I plug in my walkman later, but still.
My current favorite Bowie song is "All the Young Dudes". I used to be a lyrics person. While I still appreciate smart or funny or moving words, it's now more about how it's being delivered. I'm a sucker for an interesting melody or bridge or cadence or vocalization. Sometimes I'm horrified when I actually realize what's being said. Sort of like when I got really into the song "Shackles" by Mary Mary and then I actually put it together that it's about Jesus. Oh.
Now off to second lunch. Not to be confused with elevensies.
