raybear: (turntable)
Strange as it may sound, I've been bonding well with Sophie in the past day or so. I think she's confused by my state of mind lately -- being home but feeling disconnected and not paying attention to her. She initially acted out a bit, between the sleeping far away and being randomly bark-y when I don't play with her toys the right way, but now she seems to be watching me more closely and following my lead. In the car, she's positively brilliant. Today she even communicated to me in a calm non-aggressive way that she really wanted to be left out so she could sleep in the chair and stay by the window all day, so I didn't crate her. Of course, all of this theorizing might get shot to hell when I go home and find something destroyed and the floor soiled, though (knock on wood) she's done nothing of the sort since I've returned from vacation.

I'm finding the desire to write more about my relationship with the dog, but I'll save that for another place.

I finally finally had dinner last night with [livejournal.com profile] herownsociety after many many promises of making it happen. I knew we would be true to our word, it's just hard when you're both busy people. I had a fabulous time, though I must confess a little while afterwards I felt a bit self-conscious and wondered if I was hypocritical when I rallied about people who talk in monologues since I can sometimes be a one-man show myself when I get excited. But hopefully she felt like we were dialoguing sufficiently.

At Nookie's we stopped by the table of [livejournal.com profile] freakysparks and KLV for a brief visit, and I commissioned Sparky to help me make money with my new computer by starting an online porn site that sells amateur DVDs I'll soon be able to burn. She suggested my website be called "Spraybear". Oh my. I was literally on the floor laughing.

At this time, I'd like to plug an event where I'll be tomorrow night. Stalk with care.

And, I'm still bent on writing a short story called "Five Seconds to Seduction" about meeting Hillary Clinton at a book-signing. You've been warned.
raybear: (...and that's Miss Barbra Streisand)
Have I done anything today that wasn't livejournal related? It's unclear.

After wilding out this morning in the car and singing "Guilty" at the top of my lungs (possibly much to the chagrin of Sophie, though she didn't seem to mind), I was ready to queen it out on the train and bring Babs along for the portable CD player. But I misremembered my music collection -- most all of my Ms Streisand albums are on vinyl and one or two old cassettes. No CD's. I was temporarily deflated.

But no longer.

The shop around the corner (like Jimmy Stewart) had many many sales going on and I found the two disc "The Essential Barbra Streisand". I can be picky about greatest hits collections and who puts them out and what's on them and whether the artist is better suited of owning entire albums. But I can't front on this collection -- I'm a big faggoty fan and this has all the indulgences I want for a Friday afternoon fix. Including "The Main Event/Fight". And the glorious train wrecks of duet songs with both Bryan Adams and Celine Dion.

Ah, sweet relief.
