raybear: (turntable)
Last night I had a pretty bad blood sugar crash. I sort of forgot how bad they are since I've been much better about eating in such a way to prevent such things (i.e. don't forget to eat, take chromium, consume lots of protein and fiber). But when it's bad, it's bad. There's the migrainish headache, the sluggishness, and the most strange symptom, puking. Why when I'm so hungry I'm about to faint, and then I eat something to keep from dying, does my body immediately reject it and eject it? Of course, then the best part is whatever I eat after that tastes good and stays down. Lovely images, I'm sure and I apologize to folks who are eating while reading this.

I made it to Cricuit, an hour late, but at least I was mostly recalibrated. As bad as it gets, honestly all I need to do is take a couple supplements, an ibuprofen, then lie down and nap/rest for about 15 minutes. It's a miracle cure.

The gig went well. I was just trying to survive, but I got lots of really good feedback so I think I was doing a better job of just reacting to the energy of the (small) crowd rather than overthinking. I missed seeing some familiar faces in the crowd who are often there but was still extremely grateful to see the folks I did. My set was also supplemented with songs from mix CDs given to me by Liza, snk, and of course, Damon.

At 4 am I made it home to a delicious and luxurious bed and slept pretty well, even when I woke up to move the car. I actually fell back asleep afterwards, which is rare for me.

If last night I had been playing what I wanted to hear and not cared about what I was being paid to play, it would have been lots of reggae. Well, maybe not lots because my collection is small. This morning I woke up singing "No, No, No" and I've listened to it three times already. The original and the Eve cover.

Help me expand my collection.
