raybear: (the moon)
I seamlessly transformed on the brown line from "Interviewee Raybear" to Everyday Raybear with only a removal of the tie and a change of shirt. It seemed almost intimate to change clothes in front of the handful of strangers on the train, even though I had an undershirt so it's not like I ever revealed much skin or undergarments.

My efforts to keep myself in a relaxed state of non-anxiety so that I would do a good job at my interview this morning almost got me into trouble. It probably wasn't the wisest decision to stay out until 4:30 am talking with someone on their couch, though there was something creepy and beautiful while standing alone at the empty corner of Grand and Ashland at that time of night waiting for a bus or a cab or a magic carpet to take me home. I was moving quite slowly this morning, because, as I may have mentioned, I didn't get home until 4:30 am, but with the help of Lowenstein who finished cooking breakfast and walked the dog and drove me to the interview, I made it there perfectly on-time, well-fed and showered with tie tied. I wasn't caffeinated and at one point I wondered if it was poor form to conduct the interview while taking swigs from my to-go mug, but the atmosphere was absolutely relaxed and casual and I was overdressed which is a good thing for an interview. I have a 'second interview' in two weeks where I actually go to the site and participate in the tutoring session and I feel pretty confident that I'm high in the running of possible placement, maybe even starting this spring once a week before going more full time in the fall. But I've been tricked before so I don't want to get too confident, especially since I'm sure they have lots of candidates. So, I'm in a positive "wait and see" place and enjoyed thinking on the train about what kind of tutor/teacher I would and could be.

Also featured in today's "Good Things" Department are:

1. an e-mail response from a publication I queried saying they would read my essay this week and get back to me.
2. the beautiful weather
3. my beloved partner
4. the new Foreign Legion album and the Best of Del the Funkee Homosapien and smart hip-hop in general which I'd almost forgotten after lately inundating myself and the dancefloor with the fluffy stuff. Don't get me wrong, I love it too, but one can't be sustained on a popcorn diet.
5. another DJ gig at university of chicago this weekend
6. working a half day and going home to nap, read for school, and watch episodes of Angel while snuggled on the couch
7. the following excerpt of a recent conversation:
Me: "Um, wait, I'm confused, are you talking about your ex-lover or DJ Spooky?"
Them: "Both. DJ Spooky IS my ex."
