I have to correct one part -- I did not buy anything at Lush for my significant other, I bought it solely for me because I'm selfish, though I wouldn't necessarily mind if she happened to be around to join me for the bath. Also, the best praline place is called, I believe, Southern Candymakers and the tiny sign below said simply 'best pralines' and I looked at it and thought, for some reason I believe them, let's go inside. They were right.
Today we were in Biloxi, planning to go to the beach and see the movie "Hustle & Flow". The movie wasn't playing at the theater and 10 minutes after arriving, a huge thunderstorm rolled in. If we were better planners, we would have done things like call the movie theater to confirm and checked the weather, but we don't like to have other people determine our moods, we just got in the car and went. So what to do in Biloxi, Mississippi in this situation? Buy a cowboy hat from the clearance rack of an insanely large souvenir shop that has a huge fake shark popping out the front door. Then eat an amazing buffet at a casino with all you can eat dungeness crab, while looking out over the pier and ocean and seeing the rain blow through. Then go lose $20 in the slots downstairs. On the way home we drove through a small town off the scenic highway called Long Beach and they happened to be having their 100th anniversary and shooting off fireworks from the beach.
This week has been packed in but also has gone by fast. I'm surviving the heat with the help of every indoor facility being air conditioned and frozen daiquiris.
I haven't shaved in nearly a week and I look pretty ridiculous in scruffy not-so beard but I can't help wanting to take the experiment as far as possible and wait until I get back to Chicago.
