1. Six years ago, The View was my secret guilty pleasure I'd watch nearly every day, in part because I was in love with former 60 Minutes correspondent Meredith Vieira. But then the show started driving me nuts and I couldn't handle the the blood pressure spikes so early in the morning. So while I'll still watch Oprah in an attempt to keep tabs on middle American, I turn the television off afterwards, except for sometimes I forget and get sucked in.

Like today. I just watched a segment on the View about the process of the fashion consultant, how she chooses the wardrobe for the various hosts, and then showed them all getting dressed. And Meredith said something about how she's always the last to be dressed, she waits for the last possible minute when they're yelling at her, and then they cut to her opening the dressing room door, tripping over herself and the shoes laid out for her, and swearing up a storm that required beeping, and I kinda fell in love with her again.

2. I did watch Oprah today as well, and Terry McMillan and her gay ex-husband.......um, I don't even know what to say about the show. Except that:
one, they both have a few issues to work out ("I don't really 'do' forgiveness")
two, what ever happened to bisexuality?
three, they didn't believe him when he said had no gay inclination prior to the age of 24, so I can't WAIT for Sheryl Swoops to show up and talk about choosing to be gay.

3. Um, Yanni is back? And not on pogs. He's re-releasing his Acropolis concert. Just in time for the holidays!

4. Whoa, Joy Behar just did a last minute plug for reformed healthcare in this country.

5. Normally this section would be reserved for apologizing and explaining watching fluffy daytime show but fck that isht. I also spend the morning reading "hard news" and philosophical treatises on warfare and discussions on hermeneutics and frankly they all have something to reveal about the national consciousness.

6. I woke up with my right tonsil swollen. Just the one on the right. What is wrong with my immune system lately?

7. Yesterday I saw the Wallace and Gromit movie at $5 Tuesday special movie theatre. It was grand.

8. I actually made a purchase and sat in a Starbucks yesterday. It was tea, not coffee, because I don't like their burnt beans. This wasn't intentional, but the other coffeeshop closed down and we needed a place to sit and have a meeting. Standing in line, I figured it's not really any different than my occasional McDonald's craving. I don't even know why I feel I should confess since I don't really feel guilty. It's more that I'm trying to put my finger on something, trying to figure something out. 'Cause our culture is weird.

9. [livejournal.com profile] muffybolding posted this NYTimes article that mentions all these Chicago places I know really well. Including the bookstore I used to work and I got all defensive when they mentioned some male employee. What?! They hired a guy? I wanted to the only one in their entire history. Then again, it could be the reporter just assumed the employee to be male and used "he". Oh, the article itself is kinda controversial too. You should go invade her journal.

10. I want to stay in my pajama bottoms all day and read and write.

It's a day where I don't really recognize myself.
