i) A panel of linguists [The American Dialect Society] has decided the word that best reflects 2005 is "truthiness," defined as the quality of stating concepts one wishes or believes to be true, rather than the facts.

I've been a total news junkie for pretty much this entire past year. And yet, this is the first time I've heard or read the word "truthiness". Who the hell are these linguists anyway?

ii) cocolola and mintwaster are great tag-team voicemail leavers.

iii) I just made a playlist for my ipod for today, as I'm preparing to go out into the world, and the primary artists on the mix are Air Supply and Sufjan Stevens. That seems about right.

iv) Thank you for all the congratulations, whether they were in livejournal form, verbal expressions, or just thoughts. If you see me in person, I'll probably whip out my wallet and show you the miniature version of the certificate they gave us that's ridiculously cute.

v) I love that I know people with whom I can talk at bars and parties who, in one conversation, can mention secret sexual fetishes, how to not take relationship partners for granted, 80s avant-garde, and Heidegger.

Bonus: I love eating at Johnny's Grill. I don't like coming home and smelling like Johnny's Grill. Solution? Go there early in the morning wearing the night before's clothes, then come home and shower and get dressed for the day.
