Did you know that once a virus enters your system and invades a cell to make into it's virus-creating factory, the virus itself changes, ever so slightly, according to your body chemistry? So the cold virus I caught is different than the one I give. Which is why it's actually possible to pass a cold back to the person who gave it to you, because they don't have the antibodies for the new mutated form. I get paranoid about living with people when I'm sick, because I imagine the virus just transferring around to infinity. This isn't recent -- it started in high school, when I took AP biology and then I'd watch the cold transfer between family members, somewhat similar, but somewhat different, based on the individual's personal chemistry.

All this to say that I'm feeling better but now [livejournal.com profile] dommeyourass is sick. So far it's not quite as bad, although she has the added symptom of the severe nerve pain in her leg. And "better" for me is actually relative. I was all ready to go teach today -- I showered, shaved, cleaned up all nice and pretty. But we cancelled anyway because my co-teacher wasn't up for it and I couldn't do it alone, and in the end, that was a wise idea because when I spent 15 minutes washing dishes, I got wiped out.

I have all these residual aches and pains too: the muscles around my eyes from coughing, my neck from spending so much time lying down, and of course my right eyebrow where I knocked the fck out of myself during that middle of the night fainting spell. But what's eating me most right now is how fcking expensive it is to be sick. I lost 1/4 of my monthly budget by not teaching. I suppose I saved a few bucks by barely eating all week.

But now I must watch the American Idol results show. Strangely, I haven't watched this show since the first season, but look at me, I'm hooked.
