My office is slowly becoming the happiest place on earth. What, ten months ago I painted it the red you see in this userpic? And now, finally, clothes are in a semblance of order, shelves are getting installed, art getting hung, pictures being framed. And today, the final touch. I bought a couch. A very expensive couch. Okay, actually, in the scheme of nice couches, I scored a deal. But for someone like me, who tends to get everything for free from friends or alleys, it was a lot of money. But I've been hunting for the perfect office furniture (sofa or couch or chaise) for months and months and I didn't want something from Ikea or Target or Pottery Barn, I wanted something simple and elegant and European and well-made and sexy and office-like. And it's not exactly this, but it's kinda close:

I got it Northern Home Furnishings in Lincoln Square. My couch is Italian, it has wooden feet instead of the metal ones of that picture, it was on sale, and most excitedly, it's being delivered tomorrow. The guy who sold it to me was hilarious -- his parting words after the transaction were: "Since you obviously know where we're located, come back and see our stuff when you're looking again. We've been around for 60 years, so we know what we're doing."
On the bus ride home I started to panic a little at how much money it cost. But this is what credit cards are for, right? And when the room is done and I take pictures to share, I will be so pleased that the added debt will be just another drop in the bucket.
