Ever had one of those days where you're getting dressed offhandedly, pulling on old jeans, maybe a new shirt, and oh yeah, how about these shoes I don't wear much and then I can wear this other belt too, and......whoa, I would totally fck myself right now. That's me today. Except maybe my outfit isn't really that spectacular, I think it's just a state of mind. No, I think it's the belt.
I had a super early breakfast date/meeting/etc. that was entertaining and productive and included eggs and sausage and french toast and buckets of coffee, which I feel less bad about consuming so much grease and salt and fat after walking around in the cold for over 5 miles running errands. I took the bus a couple times, but I seemed to also be missing buses a lot, and hey, it's only 9 blocks to the next destination, so why not walk? Except that happened three times so I was a little sweaty by the time I got home, but in that nice way of being warm and glowy and the rough damp cotton of the thermal rubs against my back in ways that remind me of season changes, when the weather is a paradox of warm and cold, wet and dry. At one intersection, I ran across and bounded into the bus before he could shut the doors, and the driver said, "Whoa wardie! You made it." and this made me laugh because I had already been thinking about
thebrownhornet and how I missed him tons and wished he still lived here especially today when I would call him up and say, let's play hooky and eat cheesesteaks and play video games while we listen to the new Ghostface Killah album on repeat. In Other NewsTM, Ghostface has a new album. Released today and it's on sale at Best Buy for $6.99, which was one of my errands this morning, and at that price, if it was the days of more expendable income, I would have bought 10 of them and handed them out to friends. Instead I just mention it here and hope maybe one person will get converted.
And so I won't be playing hooky. I will clean up a resume and send it out to a contact who generously offered to try and hook me up and then do some writing and then prep for teaching. But along the way, I'll still listen to the album on repeat.
