His heart was stronger than a heavy metal bullet

In the days at the end of an illness, when I walk 5 blocks and feel like I could lie down and sleep for 2 hours to recover, I think about those scenes in movies, when people are elderly and infirmed, or when they have terminal illnesses, and the children get sent out of the room because they are "tiring them out". I feel that way about my co-workers and I wish I could shoo them away for even just approaching me to make light conversation because I feel far too exhausted to handle even such a simple task as smiling and nodding. In an effort to flood the remaining lingering cold, I've done the neti pot so much that I feel a bit like a survivor of an oceanic drowning attempt. But I think it's possibly working. The swelling has gone down in my left armpit lymph node but now I seem to have a swollen right tonsil. Bodies are weird.

All this week in lieu of a morning writing practice or a morning sitting practice, I've had a morning Ugly Betty practice, where I watch one episode on the computer. I tried to watch in the afternoon too, but the streaming download wasn't as good, probably because of everyone on their lunch break at work watching tv. I was going to wait to watch this show when it came on DVD, but I've become impatient with this approach. Or maybe I'm just craving being part of a mainstream pop culture experience now that my subscription to Entertainment Weekly has started up again. I think it's pretty amazing that ABC (and NBC and others) are offering free online, on-demand shows with virtually no commericals. It's like quasi-TiVo, at least for mainstream isht. If Battlestar Gallactica and Project Runway did free streaming, then I'd be set.

It must finally be winter time. I'm settling in to hibernate so I'm eyeing potential television and movie mates to choose.
