I saw two highly entertaining shows this weekend. Both were about MEN. Manly manly men. Last night was Beowulf in 3D at the Imax. That isht was totally ridiculous and over-the-top and kind of amazing.

But on Friday, I saw something that didn't kill any brain cells, and that was Teatro Luna's new show, Machos. If you are in Chicago, you should go see it. But if you're unsure, here's a preview of one of my favorite acts. No, the whole show isn't a musical, not at all, there is just a musical number thrown into the mix halfway through and it is brilliant. If you appreciate boybands, please watch.

I present "Girl, I'm Not Gay".

Half-price Mondays at Unique can be dangerous. I find myself doing things like trying on jean jackets and eyeing plaid flannel shirts. Luckily, I just came home with a plain black cashmere sweater (a tiny hole in it), a striped button down shirt, an argyle sweater vest, two drinking glasses (one of them is three-sided!) and a wooden box. All for $9. When I finish this novel draft and send it out to readers, I think I might spend January working on arts/crafts projects instead of writing everyday. So my shadowbox project might finally get off the ground. Also, I want to do paint-by-numbers. Except most kits are kinda of boring, so I'm brainstorming a way to create my own paint-by-numbers canvas, using tracing paper. I had to stop myself from going out onto the back porch and going through all my arts supplies and putting the ones I want to keep in the empty tub and throw away a bunch of stuff, and this is an excellent project to undertake, just not when I still have to cook lunch and wash dishes and cut my hair and shower and go to work, all in the next two hours.

Today is bleak. Its not just the sky that's overcast, even the ground is submerged in mist and clouds. Luckily I'm leaving for the airport at 7:30 am tomorrow morning and the forecast for LA this week? High of 70, sunny and clear skies. Everyday. Perhaps not the most festive weather for an autumn holiday, but fck if I care. I get to wear my sunglasses.
