Your Weekly Horoscope for June 02 to 08

Dear RAYMOND,
This is a big week, as Saturn finally moves out of Gemini and into your sign. This means an end to the confusion that has dogged your love life for some time now. You may have felt you would never be happy in a love relationship, but as Saturn has now moved into the section of your chart associated with birth and new beginnings, you may be able to guess what is going to happen next. Just as you thought it was all over, it may only just be about to truly begin. Of course this brings added responsibility and also real commitment. It might not be too long before you find yourself tied down in another way. Only this time it will be because you want it to happen. Hopefully, your days of confusion are over at last. The Sun is in Gemini, and makes a trine to Neptune over the week, so you still have plenty of dreams to share, and a few to keep for yourself as well. This is the beginning of a profitable phase, when you will be able to put a lot of your plans into action. You have control of the reins after a period in which you felt you were being buffeted around by an uncontrollable tide. Things are beginning to make sense.

[Um, yeah, because I'm just going to pretend I was NOT thinking about related ideas all weekend. Yeah, that's it. Except I can't because that would be lying and besides the outlook is supremely positive which I was trying to tell myself anyway but it's nice to have it reinforced.]

I'm reading my monthly horoscope now. Apparently Saturn is entering my sign this month for the first time in 29 years. I figure about the time it leaves will also be my personal Saturn Returns period. I think I need to read a book on Saturn if it's going to be so up in my grill.

Cancer (June 21 - July 22)

Your June Horoscope by Susan Miller

This month, on June 3, Saturn, the taskmaster planet, will enter Cancer for the first time in 29 years. Saturn will remain at your side for a total of two years without interruption, not to leave until July 2005. At first you may detest his presence, for Saturn sounds a little like your parents once did. This planet will tell you to eat right, save money, work hard — you know the drill. In case you thought you could escape these eternal truths by eating junk food, dithering your hard-earned money, and showing up at noon at your desk on days you oversleep, well, those days are officially over. Saturn won't tolerate these and other types of behavior that are essentially bad for you. Saturn wants to make you into your best possible version of yourself.

Some people need a lot of Saturn's hints, but some people only need a few. I bet you are in the latter category, dear Cancer. If so, this influence may not be too difficult for you to put up with. At any rate, you will find out soon enough. Saturn doesn't take long to spot the weakness in your armor; parts of your life that need fortification will become obvious. During its visit Saturn will test your resourcefulness, fortitude and strength on a whole variety of life issues. Saturn will show you that you can handle much more responsibility than you thought you were ready for. When you are through this series of tests you will be justly proud of your growth and accomplishments.

Sometime between now and July 2005, as part of Saturn's tutorial, you will make a major commitment. It might be any of the following areas (or could include something else I haven't thought of): You may get married, have a baby, take on the care of an elderly relative, start a new business, get a promotion to a big job at work, or buy a house. Whatever commitment you choose, it will be one that proves to the world that you are ready to make a major rite of passage to a new level of maturity. We all grow up a bit when Saturn comes by, and it really doesn't matter how old you at the time — we can all become more seasoned and mature. We only get two or three Saturn visits in our lifetime, and they tend to be as memorable as they are insightful.

Saturn makes us play by the rules and live up to our promises. It doesn't pay to try to avoid Saturn — that would only make matters worse. Saturn expects us to get with the program, be a quick study, and face reality. The sooner we deal with Saturn's demands, the better.

While some people groan when Saturn comes by, I find Saturn to be an enormous help. In fact, I think we would all be little marshmallows without Saturn. This planet really does help one develop a staunch backbone. Saturn will show you that you can tackle some very big responsibilities, even those you imagined were beyond your means and capacity.

For example, I started Astrology Zone under a Saturn visit to my Sun a few years back. When Saturn touched my rising sign long ago, I got married and had my first child. Saturn will make you cognizant of time (for indeed, Saturn rules the concept of time), and encourage you to make the most of every moment.

In 2003, Saturn will move through 13 degrees of Cancer, or about half the total degrees of the sign (there are 30 degrees in all), highlighting Cancers birthdays from June 21 to July 5. Those born in June will feel Saturn's affects first, and those born on July 6 or later will step up to Saturn's challenges in 2004. If you were born at the tail end of Cancer, for example, near July 20, relax. You won't feel Saturn's effects until October 2004 — you will have plenty of time to gear up for your biggest cosmic tests.

We feel Saturn most when it passes over the degrees of our birthday sign, thankfully not for the whole two-year visit. President Bush, a Cancer, was born on July 6. He will feel Saturn's pressures most in June 2004. However, Saturn will be "within orb" earlier, as soon as December 2003, so President Bush will sense a tightening of tensions in his life later this year. Saturn will coax President Bush to be pragmatic, exerting its toughest lessons to teach Bush how to maximize the use of limited resources.

Back to you. Do what you can to protect your health under this trend. Tensions may lower your resistance, and you will need a way to offset stress. Working out at a gym or participating in a strenuous sport you enjoy would be two terrific ways to vent Saturn's pressures. Keep up your checkups, and if your doctor has prescribed a certain diet, be sure to stick to it.

Now, let's turn to other interesting developments this month — there are many!

Work projects will be your full focus at the full moon, June 14. Falling in your sixth house of assignments and work projects, this full moon will likely bring a key project to culmination. If you need to hire an employee for your office, or someone to help you at home (like a babysitter or landscaper), this would be a good time to advertise in the classifieds. Saturn is opposed to this moon, suggesting a serious, steadfast approach to interviewing your applicants. The one you choose will likely stay with you a long time!

Alternatively, this house also rules health, so again, I will ask you to please take care of yourself, especially near June 14 plus or minus four days. Get enough sleep, eat nutritious foods and slow down if you feel a bit achy. This would be an ideal time to get those little medical chores taken care of, such as an eye examine or blood pressure test, a mammogram if you are a woman, or a prostrate exam if you are a man. Also, have your teeth cleaned and X-rays taken to keep your pearly whites in the best possible condition. If you have been dealing with a more serious health concern, it is likely that a health treatment will come to an end and show good results.

Full moons bring a great deal of energy, so something will certainly reach a final stage at this time. Perhaps you will get an answer to some medical tests you underwent previously — full moons tend to illuminate mysteries with bright floodlights. This moon will glide close to Pluto, suggesting that your inner powers of rejuvenation will surprise you AND your doctor.

You've been concerned about finances, which is understandable because Mars has vastly increased your expenses since the end of April. Those heavy-duty costs are about to calm down now, much to your relief. As of June 16, things should begin to normalize.

There will be two terrific financial days to take advantage of this month. The first will be June 4, a day that should surely boost your earning power. Lucky, financially-oriented Jupiter and the mighty Sun (indicating favor from higher-ups) will be in perfect cooperation. Schedule your biggest business meetings and presentations on that day, dear Cancer!

Another solid day should be June 23, when Venus will contact Jupiter; both are considered financial planets. With Jupiter now touring your second house of earned income (a visit nearing its final hours, as Jupiter will leave at the end of August), this would be an ideal day to have an interview for a new job, or to bring an existing interview process to another level by raising the topic of salary. If you negotiate your salary on this day, you would likely find generous compensation.

Finally, an unbeatable financial day is July 1. Technically this day won’t arrive until next month, but it is so special that I want to let you know about it now! I am sure you will want to start thinking about how best to use this glorious day. On July 1, lucky Jupiter, currently touring your house of salary and possessions, will beam Pluto, the massively powerful planet, now touring your sixth house of work assignments. Work and money will blend beautifully this day----you could hit the jackpot when you interview for a new job, or get the raise you have long deserved. This is a rare day, not to be repeated in similar form until December 2007. (By then, Jupiter will have moved into another part of your chart, so it won’t work out the same way.)

Try to use this day, July 1, and the days leading up to it, to have a performance review, to interview for a new job, or to make a presentation to a new client. It is also a wonderful day to sign a contract or begin a new business / work alliance. If you are self-employed, you’ll want to advertise your goods and services on days leading up to this day. There’s money to be earned, dear Cancer! Remember, this won’t be money won but money earned—you have a chance to make quite a bundle!

Now let’s turn to another interesting development, involving distant travel, education or possibly publishing. Mars will move into your ninth house of travel and publishing on June 16 and will remain there until December 16. That's an extraordinarily long time! Mars usually stays in any one house of the horoscope for only seven weeks; to have Mars in one sign and one house for six months, well, that's headline news! Mars will be in Pisces, a fabulously compatible placement for you, thank goodness. You are sure to enjoy this trend. (Mars hasn't spent this much time in Pisces since 1956!)

The ninth house, which will be lit up for so long, rules long-distance travel. You may be at quite a few airports over the next few months — and quite unexpectedly, I might add! This is a HUGE trend and one I feel you will notice. Uranus, the planet of surprising developments, is already in this ninth house and will work closely with Mars. You should absolutely notice evidence of this sparkling trend. In the next six months, travel could occur constantly. Enjoy it! Mars rules your house of career, so it appears your travel will be work-related, but that doesn't mean you won't have fun. I think I you will! I know that Cancers, as a rule, like the comforts of home, but if you do travel under these vibes, you will find the change of pace to be quite refreshing.

If travel is not how this trend will play out, there are several other ways having Mars in your ninth house may become important to you. You may decide to go back to college, as the ninth house rules higher education. If this interests you, you couldn't choose a better time to do so. Both Mars and Uranus are in Pisces, a water sign that blends magnificently with yours. Mars' placement shows us where we have plenty of motivation and drive, so it's apparent you would have what it takes to succeed.

This influence will also make you more philosophical, more given to probing life's questions. In that sense, you may become much more spiritual and reflective. That's a lovely way for Mars to play out in your chart. Keep in mind that the areas of the ninth house are not mutually exclusive — you may experience several influences at once. The ninth house is very mind-broadening, the place in the horoscope that helps us see the big picture and think in long-range terms. This is part of the reason I am so enthusiastic about this trend for you, dear Cancer.

The ninth house also rules legal matters, so you may have a long negotiation to tend to, or a series of contracts to go over with your lawyer. Most people think "lawyer" and panic, but there is absolutely no reason to feel that way. Another possibility is that you may be busy registering patents, copyrights or trademarks, or signing very positive, beneficial agreements — there are plenty of reasons you may be on the phone with your lawyer, and many of them could be quite exciting. Both Uranus and Mars will be in a terrific angle to your Sun, and will likely look out for you in these negotiations.

Romantically, July will be a much more important month than June, as Venus will tour Cancer next month. This month, with Venus gliding through your twelfth house, you may be tempted into a clandestine relationship. That would not be a good idea. Chances are, when Venus moves into your first house in early July, your relationship would come out in the open. If it truly is a secret relationship, it sounds like that wouldn't please you or the mystery partner.

Now let's look at your best date nights!

My favorite date night for you will fall on Friday, June 20. On that day, Venus and Neptune will cook up some fabulously romantic treats. The moon will cooperate, too, in gentle, compassionate and highly compatible water-sign Pisces. This will be a lovely day. Try to enjoy yourself on this night.

Two more superb date-nights will come on the heels of the one I just mentioned: Monday, June 23 and Tuesday, June 24. Of those two, I like June 24 best, but I admit I am splitting hairs here. On both these dates, the Sun and surprising Uranus will be well angled, making for plenty of wonderful, surprising romantic developments. The moon will be in elegant, compatible Taurus on June 24, another plus for you. Try to circulate, dear Cancer!

Finally, one of your best date nights could well be Sunday, June 29 at the new moon in Cancer, a date I will speak about in depth in a moment. If you are single, it's always good to meet someone new on a new moon, for these cosmic events represent fresh starts. If you meet someone on this day or in the week that follows, it could be a relationship that will develop over the long run. (I wish I could say this aspect would be in effect the day prior, for Saturday night, but alas, it's not.)

As I hinted above, the month will end happily with the new moon, June 29, in Cancer, your cosmic birthday gift. A new moon is always a gateway to new chapters in our lives. With this one falling in your own sign, it should be a kind of "carte blanche," a bundle of energy that you can direct as you please in any area of your life. No other new moon will ever act like one in your own sign — make the most of this one.

If your birthday falls on June 29, or within five days of that date, you will be especially touched by this new moon, and see many opportunities as a result.

One of the best ways to do so (especially in the light of the fact that Saturn has entered your sign) would be to give your life an once-over, a head-to-toe assessment. See what you've achieved and what's still lacking. Draw up a list of what you still hope to achieve, then state your new goal and set out to reach it. Even if you take only one baby step forward at the time of that new moon, June 29, you will steer your ship in the right direction.

At the time of this new moon, four planets will be in Cancer, a very positive development — four out of ten heavenly bodies in our solar system will favor you! We have not had many planets in water signs lately, so you've had to sit out a few dances. This new moon, June 29, will change that.

Water signs are often determined by the shape of what contains them; look at your life and see what contains and restrains you. Sometimes we accept restraints in order to create big, important results. (For example, we temporarily give up some of our carefree sense of freedom to have children.) Other times, however, we accept restraints that are unnecessary, something we realize later with a sense of having been imprisoned. This will be the time to separate the two and offload obligations not contributing to your life goals. New and exciting responsibilities will come your way soon, so try to clear the decks of anything that is not productive. You want to be able to create space for the universe to fill with better things.

Saturn may be about restriction, but what so many miss is that Saturn is about the restrictions that we gladly, voluntarily accept in order to set up the sturdy foundations of our lives. (Uranus, on the other hand, is a sign that often brings unexpected duties.) Remember this during the next two years: Saturn will not thrust responsibility on you without your compliance. We accept Saturn's challenges because we see their long-term value. The payoff is usually VERY handsome. Don't let anything deter you from your quest.

Saturn is in charge of making dreams tangible — never forget that. When Saturn's near, there's almost nothing you can't achieve!

Summary:

This will be a critically important month for you, dear Cancer. On June 3, Saturn will make its monumental move into Cancer for the first visit to your sign in over 29 years. Saturn will remain in your sign for two years, teaching you how to take judicious risks. You may soon get married, have a baby, start your own business or buy a house, as a few examples. Whatever you choose to do, it will represent a long-term commitment to some of the key cornerstones of your life.

Financially, you have been hit with many costly expenses lately. Luckily, finances are due to calm down by mid-month. It is also possible that lately you have locked horns over joint resources with someone close. If so, the same is true — you are on the way to a calmer, more productive period for money matters. There are two days that will benefit you most this month: June 4 and 23. Use them for your key financial discussions, meetings and client presentations.

The new moon on June 29 will fall in Cancer, so watch the opportunities that surface at that time. They could be the start of something big.

To take the edge off an otherwise rather serious month, investigate various vacation packages. Your chart suggests you will find some sparkling travel options. If your boss sends you on a business trip, you may like the break in routine. Time to splurge on that matched set of luggage, dear Cancer?

You will see that June represents a turning point. Now, finally, you will have the green light (and the backbone) to launch your dearest plans!

I wish I understood the whole Saturn return thing better. I thought it was supposed to be between ages 28 and 30. But I feel like mine has been late - as in, it's going on now. I guess it's when Saturn returns to its location in your natal chart, not to your sun sign. As far the latter goes, I guess I've got another 4 years or so.
