Rainy days and Mondays
Had a busy and productive weekend.
On Friday evening, I talked to Melanie! Only for about 5 minutes -- she called me from a pay phone at Kmart. After that, I made about 12 phone calls to people I've been meaning to contact. Of course, no one was home, so this task was completed in about 10 minutes. Shana did call me back and we chatted for about an hour. I really adore her and I'm so happy that we're such good, close friends. She's definitely someone I consider my true family. While on the phone with her, I was drinking Jack & Coke and sort of unintentionally got drunk. It was sort of odd and funny that I was sitting at home on Friday night feeling quite buzzed for no apparant reason. So I decided to make a mixtape for Melanie -- volume 4 in the Raymond chronicles. I finished, and it's okay, but I might re-do it, depending on how anal I feel.
On Saturday, I met La____ for brunch at Ann Sather's, then we went shopping at a thrift store nearby. I bought 5 dress shirts, 4 casual shirts, 4 ties and a pair of suspenders for a grand total of $18. Woo-hoo! I love having new clothes. Especially sharp ones. Now I just need to get some new dress pants. My old ones are WAY too big. Anyway, then I met up with Damon, Br__ and Ste___ and we did some CD shopping. Again, I was a bargain buyer because I brought a bunch of CD's to trade. Yee-haw. I think the best album I got was the new Shuggie Otis trip. I love it. So then we went to dinner, went back to my place for some Simpsons trivia.
On Sunday, I met up with Damon, Li__ and Ca__ for a walk and to see Tomb Raider. I have a rant about Ca___ later, but I'm not up for going into it now. She's the photographer and we were supposed to be working on a photo documentary thing of my transition but it fell through for a couple reasons. Anyway, the movie was ok -- if you already want to go see it, go see it. But I wouldn't try to convince anyone to see it -- it definitely wasn't THAT good. But I had an enjoyable time.
Then last night I was super productive and did a bunch of laundry, sorted my clothes, reorganzied my closet, and added to the pile of give-away clothes. I still need to fininsh putting stuff away, but I can see the floor in the corner of my room for the first time in months! And I can open my closet door all the way. Go me.
Now I'm at work, and I don't totally mind. I didn't sleep that great last night -- lots of tossing and turning and waking up. I think I'm grinding my teeth, too, so I need to start wearing my mouth guard. But I don't necessarily mind getting up and going to work because it gives me something to do. I think it was harder to go to work before when it was so tempting to entertain the notion of staying at home all day with Melanie.
Things to do tonight:
Wash dishes
Cook dinner
Put away CD's
Finish putting away clothes
Organize bills!
Do a budget?
Go running
Things to do this week:
Finish all laundry
Start cleaning out papers
Call Brown Elephant for pick-up
I feel like I won't be able to start my recording course until I have a clean apartment and a more organized life. Procrastinating? Maybe. But I think it's for a good cause.
