I've gotten lots of warm and fuzzy phone calls and well-wishes from folks today. One of the interns bought me lunch, which was really really kind. Kate called, as did Shana. My friend Am___ from Lousiville called -- I haven't spoken to her since we saw each other at xmas. I'm hoping she'll come up to Chicago and visit this summer. Also, my mom called!!! It was super weird to hear my co-worker say "Ray, M___ Johnson on line 1 for you." She sang me happy birthday, and said she was calling since she thought I might be out with friends tonight. It was sweet. But I'm still not sure how they got the number here. I guess I gave it to them at some point, but I don't remember when.

Lisa gave me a really nice sushi set (two plates, to sauce dishes, and chopsticks with rests) and matching placemats -- a fag's dream. And Damon gave me a birthday card for a one year old and a baby bib. Bastard. But not really -- I was laughing really hard. It was perfect. [For those who don't interact with me in real life, Damon and I tend to trade obscure lyrics and lines, mostly from rap songs. From the Wu-Tang song "windpipe" off the Belly soundtrack, Ghostface has a line about "you did a baby bid", as in someone was only in jail briefly and they couldn't handle (doing 30 days verses 2 years or whatever). So anyway, the first dozen times I heard the song, I thought he was saying "you need a baby bib". Even when Damon corrected me, I decided that baby bib sounded better. So we started saying it to each other, when someone fcked something up. E.g. Him: "Sorry I was late, I forgot my watch" Me: "You need a baby bib." Then, it got shortened to "Baby bib". Then this past week I started saying "Two words" and playing charades, trying to act out baby bib. So anyway, that's what it means.]

And now we're going to have cookie cake from Mrs. Fields. Mmm-mmm good.
