Half of the office was gone from the beginning, then another third left shortly after lunch.
So I'm leaving to take advantage of that daylight savings and I'm booty-calling my bike. To Chicago commuter, I'll be the wobbly one with a white helmet and red bike, trying not to fall over at intersection because of the toe cages. And if I get killed, to every one out there, I love you all.
I'm having flashbacks to childhood -- rushing home to ride bikes before it gets dark and I have to eat dinner and do homework. I even have milk and cookies at home for an afterschool snack to complete the experience.

Date: 2004-04-05 06:12 pm (UTC)That's so kickass that you got a bike! (Now *I* sound like I'm 12!) I had this dream that I would live near my work and just bike to the office everyday. It looks like I can't afford to do that, but I still want to get the bike. Did you get it used? How?

Date: 2004-04-05 07:11 pm (UTC)otherwise, i have no real advice! perhaps just decide if you want a road bike or mountain bike, then look up some names of brands of good bikes, then ask around to people with bikes about where they get them fixed and tuned.
good luck!
p.s. i barely made it 5 blocks away before i got tired! i'm so out of shape. small steps.
