Things that have thrilled me today:

1. Finishing writing a chapter and mailing it to my mentor. Feeling ready to keep writing, which is good since I just looked at my contract and I have a LOT to do in the next 5 weeks.

2.. Last month I posted some pics of my friends in L.A., including one of me and Assirap, topless in her cheetah print bedsheets. Today I got an e-mail with pictures competing with us -- MFA Husband topless in bed with K and D. They were so hilarious. I'm so excited to see them in June.

3. I was reading the schedule for my residency in June and saw that Kate Bornstein is a guest speaker and lecturer. WTF? I was just talking to [livejournal.com profile] cocolola about Kate (maybe this is a sign about what we talked about Coco?!?) It's kind of this crazy full circle to be meeting her again. Hi, remember me when I was a blond buzzed head butch dyke fresh out of college who you spotted as being trans-identifed even though I wasn't able to say it outloud? Remember how we talked about Laurie Anderson and tarot cards and Pokemon? Um, yeah, nice to see you again, I'm a big fag and a writer.

4. [livejournal.com profile] thirdreel's post which simply said:
Lowering the Level of Discourse
omg the new pope wtf

5. I made bananas foster this morning for breakfast. And sausage and biscuits. And super yummy coffee where I added chicory and cinnamon to the fresh grounds.

ha. being the non-dessert/non-sweet person i am, i googled bananas foster to refresh my memory as to what it is, exactly.

the first line of the recipe:

This dish cannot be prepared in the kitchen. It must be performed, in front of your guests.

awesome.

that's hiLARious. i did not perform the dish this morning. nor did i light it on fire. this one recipe i found had it made in the microwave, which seem wrong. i just melted some butter, brown sugar, and vanilla extract (in lieu of rum) in a pan, then stirred the red bananas around until they were cooked! next time i'm setting it on fire.

of course! i'll need something to help me along with conversation when i get tongue-tied, and it will be so natural to say, "so, i hear you recently met a very good friend of mine from chicago, the brilliant, talented theater director/performance artist/actor/academic [Cocolola]...you know, the one who did QWSS.....and how's Rosie?"

Bananas foster as in dousing bananas with sugar and rum and setting them on fire? That's a pretty impressive production for breakfast. Mmm.

ahem
