Sometimes I get certain words stuck in my head, and my lips and tongue roll them around, I recite them quietly or out loud or whispered, I try them out, I intentionally mispronounce them, I rearrange them. Then I stop and think about what they mean, why they might have appeared in my brain randomly, what's the code to unlock.* And then I distract myself from the deeper psychological meaning by just researching them as concepts.

Today's example of this is palimpsest

*: This one isn't totally Jungian in its origin or anything -- it's the title of a journal I updated for my freelance project, but every time my eyes glance it among the other titles on the spreadsheet, I get fixated.
