It is very mundane, and mostly involves 'following up on a project with me' in the form of e-mailing me while cc:-ing my supervisor. I just need to vent a little, to remind myself, this is the type of daily isht that is common to offices, but that I largely get to avoid!

However, the Crazy Officemate I've talked about before? She's been out of the office since before the holidays and will most likely not be returning at all. A christmas miracle! That fills me with guilt because she had to have back surgery! Then I go back to happy and let go of the guilt because I didn't do anything to hurt her back!!

I'm sad for Crazy Officemate, as it seems that she has a lot of problems, but happy for you. And from what you described, she is only happy when she has a lot of problems to feel sad and complain about, so maybe she'll come out ok in the end.

This is exactly how I feel about my office except if instead you said "Dear half of my co-workers" and "Dear other half of my co-workers" and replaced "fruitini gum" with "day old donuts and other baked goods".
