not your ordinary mimosa
Nov. 11th, 2001 08:32 amSo. My weekend so far.
Friday: Mr. Damon came over and in our dorkness we completed Deathmatch Volume 5: Guess Who's Back? the mixtape. I must dub a copy for
freakysparks to use today in our training session of Perfect Dark. I've been jonesing for some N64 action. Damon and I have finally come into our own -- our new mixtape has skits. Yes, we're geeks. It's all about the ninja video from the Learning Channel. In other random news, Damon has a new phrase. He kept saying "word life". We talk to each other so damn much, that the second a new "inside joke" or slang term enters into the lexicon, we notice it immediately and probably not to soon afterwards it spreads to the other person. Even if I don't initially like it. For example, about a month ago, he started going "Ah, Ahhhhhhhhh." And every time he did it, I was like "shut up!!!" But guess who says it now? And guess who caused it to spread to others (though they have incorporated a Simpsons twist to the whole spiel). Another example of the back-and-forth phenomenon came from our widespread use of the phrase "thanks for playing". Damon was using it, then I started using it, and one day I asked him why he started saying it -- he said he got it from me. Apparantly, Karen on Will & Grace said it, I thought it was grossly amusing, I used it everyday for a week or two, then forgot about it. Then he brought it back a month later. Now it's sorta been retired to the hall of fame, but gets trotted out occasionally. One can almost date our correspondence based on what random comments or jokes are made in an e-mail.
But back to the weekend.
We had a mini-LJ convention when Riley, Vaness, and C came over. I may have appeared drunk, but I was actually sober and just hyped up on coke. I mean, orange soda. We waited and waited and waited for Alex, then made a fun sign and went to Clarke's. He showed up soon after. I made the mistake of drinking too much coffee, which will appear later in this post.
We returned to find the outside of our apartment overrun by drunk white people who annoyed me. They buzzed our buzzers "mistakenly" several times during the evening. MelRo just said "it WAS a mistake" but I saw the frustrated drunkie hit all the apartment buzzers when the party-apartment didn't let them in soon enough, so I know it was intentional. I'm also paranoid.
I was up until about 3 am, shivering in the living room.
Yesterday I woke up at 10 am, did something, though I don't remember what, then fell back asleep until 2 pm. We went to the grocery store, which is on my top-ten list of favorite things to do, then came back, went to dinner with Br___ and watched the musical episode of Buffy, which I loved. But then again, I fcking love musicals. I thought it did a decent job, since it was written by a non-musical person. Probably similar caliber to most hacks producing Broadway shows nowadays. I definitely want to watch it again. If I had been watching by myself, I probably would have cried, but I didn't.
Now it's Sunday morning and I'm about to drink chocolate milk and eat strawberry pop tarts and this afternoon I have a play date. And tonight is the Simpsons season premiere. woohoo!!!
