I watched Scrooged last night. I love that movie. I'm a sucker for most interpretations of a Christmas Carol, actually. Including cheesey Lifetime version's starring Susan Lucci, the Muppets version, and more traditional ones with George C. Scott or Patrick Stewart. But please avoid the VH1 version with Vanessa Williams. It was even painful for me.
But I love this movie, despite it's 80's-ness. I actually prefer Richard Donner 80's over John Hughes 80's. Donner did more offbeat yet middle of the road movies, like The Toy, Goonies, Superman II, and the classic Ladyhawke ("quick, Pierre, draw your sword!"). Anyway, Bill Murray is hilairous and there are lots of random funny lines and cameos and bit parts. Poor Karen Allen who hasn't had much work since then -- though she did play a possible lesbian fisher with Cherry Jones in The Perfect Storm. Which is a horrible movie, but I think it was lucrative, which is good for Cherry and Karen. ANYWAY. The point is, even though I've seen Scrooged dozens of time, I haven't watched it in it's entirety in a couple years, and I still managed to laugh and to get all misty-eyed at the end, despite any attempts by MelRo to be a ruiner.
In other news, my cough isn't as bad today. But I'm still sorta wiped out -- I get light-headed if I stand for too long, and hanging christmas lights last night nearly induced an asthma attack, and I don't even have asthma.
By the way, happy birthday
freakysparks!! I will be resting up so I can come by your celebration tonight! I may not have the energy for a full boot-licking scene, but I will definitely be quite capable of toasting to you.
I just found out that my boss and her partner exchanged rings and are planning a ceremony for next year. Aww. I also learned yesterday that my friend Me___ got engaged to her boyfriend and they're getting married next fall. Which wasn't a surprise, but still weird to think about. I e-mailed her yesterday because I hadn't spoken to her in about 9 months or so, and lost most of her contact information in my old e-mail account that got deleted, but I managed to find an old scrap of paper with her work e-mail address on it. She then made an appearance in my dream last night, which was scary and bizarre.
Here's the most I can remember:
I woke up in the cab of my truck and someone was ripping the front fender off, and preparing to beat the truck and poosibly me with a tire iron. I started the enging, threw it in reverse and drove out of the wooded area. I was completely confused and had partial amnesia -- I had apparantly been blacked out for about 5 days, and I came to on christmas day. The rest of the dream was very movie like, where I was putting the pieces together of what happened. Part of the plotine involved Me__'s fiance's family member being the man I accused of beating my truck. And there was this strange racial element, because the man was Persian. Which is extra bizarre, considering her fiancee is the whitest white boy ever to come from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Yet the man really resembled him. Anyway, I was trying to convince Me__ that the press was at fault, because I don't remember enough to accuse anyone. and apparantly I blacked out shortly after getting into a near accident with some yuppie young woman on this dirt road, and then we both got sucked into this tree -- sort of a Wizard of Oz talking tree, but muce more evil and bizarre and horror-movie-esque. So I was sort of possessed, which is why I couldn't remember the past few days. But now I had to find a way to get rid of the curse or whatever. Tres bizarre.
There was also a second dream involving me getting Damon's freelance gig check in the mail. The best part is that it was addressed to Henry Higgins, so I thought it was him sending me something as joke.
MelRo was very mean and sneaky this morning and tried to use sexual favors to make me call in sick to work. If only I could have.
Time to go mail a motion to the court. Let's hope it gets delivered this time!

Date: 2001-12-06 09:50 am (UTC)1) you sit and lean back
2) I lift your boots for better position and lick them
2a) foot massage may be involved if needed.
So, it doesn't require energy on your part at all. But if even that's too much, don't worry, you can be my new scarf :P
Glad to hear you're feeling better, btw.
