the inane details of my life right now.
Apr. 10th, 2002 01:49 pmTwo possibly excruciatingly boring topics ahead.
1. Diet
by the way, I mean that in the true sense of the word. As in, what I'm consuming.
Right now I'm up to 6 types of tablets a day, 3 of them once a day, the other three 2-3 times a day. For the record: multivitamin, calcium/mangesium/zinc, chromium, biotin, b-complex, and L-glutamine. I'm making sure nothing clashes -- the multivitamin only contains small amounts of the B stuff, so tonight I will figure out how to adjust dosage. And I'm currently consuming one of those nasty protein shakes. Though it's not quite as nasty as the last one I had, since I'm actually able to finish the drink. I'm not planning on drink these every day, but my lunch was lacking in protein, so I picked one up at the discout vitamin store around the corner.
Current status? Shaky. Like I've had caffeine or nicotine, but I haven't had either. I guess those glycogen freeing agents are working, or whatever. But not sluggish or headache-y.
I've also become addicted to Basic Four cereal which is pretty much against my nature -- I don't tend to enjoy healthy cereals, though I can't stand super sugary ones either. I'm more middle of the road: cheerios, honeycomb, frosted flakes, alpha-bits.
And by the way, does anyone happen to know offhand how much protein one should be consuming? I believe it's some ratio of grams for pounds I weigh, but can't remember. I'll probably be looking it up online soon, but I appreciate any opinions other folks have on the matter.
2. Sleep
Yesterday I took a very hot bath around lunch time, got dressed, and then felt very drowsy -- not because I hadn't slept the night before (I believe I got more than 8 hours), but because of the warmth and my general sluggishness. So I stretched out on the couch and dozed. I began lucid dreaming and suffering from sleep paralysis. Some parts of my dreams I was controlling, some I weren't. I knew I was dreaming at the time, though after I woke up I wondered if it was real. One of my dreams involved being a nanny for Eric McCormick's infant son and me also attempting to seduce him. And one part felt VERY real. One part on him, that is. But we'll just let that go and keep this journal entry rated PG. The second sleep paralysis dream involved MelRo coming home and trying to talk to me while I slept, but I was unable to talk or move to indicate that I could hear her.
Continuing in the dream theme, last night I dreamt that Former Co-Worker came to visit with her son Noah. But in my dream, he was a hedgehog. Yeah. She called me at work today, amazingly enough, and I told her about the dream. She was quite amused.

That's all I have to report for now. Tomorrow is lunch with Paradise Regained where further nutritional discussions will take place, I'm sure. Oh, and I finally bought a watch yesterday. I'm dying for someone to compliment it or ask where I got it so I can tell them it's a "Designer Watch". Or so the package at Walgreens told me.

Date: 2002-04-12 03:02 pm (UTC)today I bought a cannister of Spiru-Tein, which has soy protein power AND spirulina. woo-hoo. it's actually only about 15 g of protein per scoop, but when i add it to skim milk, it goes up to about 25 g per serving. not too bad -- you're right about it being a little chalky, but i don't mind so much. and that's just for my afternoon snack between lunch and dinner! i'm trying to do the 4-5 smaller meal deal, with healthy snacking. so far, i do feel hungry all the time -- but no headache or sluggishness!
thanks for the advice.
p.s. you should add the fabulous MelRo (
