raybear: (it's dot!!)

I'm looking for a break in the heat very soon. Though you wouldn't have guessed it since I'm wearing a t-shirt with no jacket. But at least I'm weating pants instead of shorts. It's bizarre to sleep in the warm humidity, unwilling to touch any sheet or any body. I also blame the heat on my difficulty in getting up in the morning -- it's like I wake up lethargic.

Last night I gave myself in a haircut in a style I'll call "the Loop mohawk", named because it might be unusual when I'm downtown in the looop, but in my home neighborhood, it's practically conservative. I definitely have a strip of hair on the top of my head, about 3 inches wide that's significantly longer than the rest of the hair on my head. And today I used some product to shape a nice slope and give it a touch of height. But, if you saw me from a distance, you might just perceive me to have a grown-out flat top. And if I comb it forward you can barely tell at all. But it's enough to entertain me right now.

Today I plan on making some shoe purchases at Payless, and then sometime soon I must make my way to the thrift store to buy some shorts and possibly short sleeve shirts. My wardrobe is definitely lacking for warm weather.

And when I actually got a look at me vest in the mirror, it looked totally different than I expected, or how I had pictured it in my head (when trying it on in the bathroom, I didn't leave the stall to examine it in the mirror). It looks fairly ridiculous with just a white a-frame on top, but it might look okay with a grey one, at least in a casual way. Not for public outings. Is it strange that there are certain outfits I deem inappropriate even for just sitting around in the house by myself? I mean, hey, I have to look at myself too. But in general I'm still enjoying the new vest and today I'm wearing a tight ringer t-shirt that I previously gave up with my last binding method. I must admit I feel sort of exposed because I only have two layer, and both are thin (compared to 2 binding layer, one thin, one thick, plus one or two shirts). It makes me wonder how strange it will feel post-surgery to wear only one shirt. I think the nerves on my torso have been affected, though probably not permanently. But that's a scary thought.

Now it's time for farewell cake
