So I'm accepting the DJ gig. And I'm not going to my friend's gig. Shortly after I posted the poll I made the decision. I'm not sure why I even had a moment of freakout that was big enough to warrant a poll.
In reality, my only viable options (as in options I would truly choose) were choice #1 or choice #2. The reasons being: Djing for 4 hours is a tiring task -- I need to be fully rested and prepared beforehand, not running around trying to do too many things at once. And although option number 4 looks great on paper, it's way more annoying and timeconsuming -- I'd have to find the time to create a dance mixtape, then I would have to find a way to get the tape to the organizer before the event(s). And this is in a neighborhood across town -- a 30 minute drive, which is hard if you don't have a car.
And
justaboi was remarkably the only person who chose #2, aside from myself. Though to be fair,
limenal recommended the same option in an independent e-mail.
I think my fears came more from my tendency toward inertia (aka lazyness) and not wanting to change plans at the last minute. Also, like I mentioned before, 4 hours is a LONG time and it will make for an intense weekend, rather than a completely relaxing one. BUT, as MelRo astutely pointed out, I will be exposing myself to the Hyde Park market, which is a good thing. This is my new career here -- it's time to take it seriously.
Oh, and have I yet mentioned the 300 hundred dollars? I'll just send my friend some flowers wishing her good luck doing the stand up gig.
I'm off to see Paradise Regained's play
