Yesterday I had Cinqo de Mayo brunch with Coworker Friend, along with one of her infamous long walks. We covered everything from George Clinton to the history of hip hop to gentrification to bisexuality.

Last night I read my lucid dreaming book before going to sleep. I unintentionally managed to make myself wake up EVERY time last night after EVERY dream. Which doesn't truly affect one's sleep cycle -- most folks do this but we fall alseep so quickly that we don't remember it happening. But because I went to sleep with the goal of "remembering my dreams", I did a little TOO good of a job of it. In one dream, I composed an LJ poll related to the movie Kissing Jessica Stein, based on my conversation with CoWorker Friend yesterday. I don't remember all the questions, only some of them, so I imporvised the rest. I also added a question based on a conversation I just had with [livejournal.com profile] limenal. This has a quasi-sociological purpose, but if you haven't seen the movie, feel free to answer the other 7 questions if you feel like it -- I'm always interested in learning what folks think.

(Of course, feel free to leave comments if you want to expand on an answer. UPDATE: ACK!! I just realized I didn't list female-bodied genderqueer/genderfree humans! ACK!! oh well.)

[Poll #32294]

Pomosexuality at your service!

My "full" sexual identity is "gay-identified bisexual" which means that my behavoir is (even notedly) bisexual, but I identify as gay. Usually, I slip into "gay" because it doesn't really matter, but my truest identity is pomosexual -- postmodern sexual. Meaning: No rules, indeterminant, engendered by my experiences, ahistorical, apolitical... Just out there... but there isn't a space for it, so I decided to write :).

My sexual life has been going in whatever direction the beauty and connection leads me. I do not allow mere gender or sexuality to limit my expressions of sexuality! (Hey, _Rubyfruit Jungle_ by Rita Mae Brown was the first place where I found my full philosophical sexual self reflected!)

I don't believe my sexuality is fluid, I believe it just is. I take a Romantic view with it -- the way people of the Romantic era saw children as being innocent and utterly free from any contaminants. If I fuck someone, then it must be right. I let it be what it is and never attempt to harness it or push it into this direction or that. I am that dog with it's nose in the air sniffing that scent and tracking it down... yes, to copulate.

Yes, I've lived in an urban environment.
Love Lisa Kudrow.

As for bisexuality, I don't think there's anything to get. It's natural, more natural, definately, than these little boxes of gay and lesbian. Sex is sex. It feels good. Relationships are the kicker. In fact, I would like to add, that I don't really consider those people who would "have sex with the same sex" to be truly bisexual because sex is _too_ easy. Having a relationship with someone has to be valued or else we make the mistake of heterosexuals... which is defining people by who they fuck over who they love (even if the two overlap).

Peace,

*wink*

Shhh! You're not supposed to reveal the REAL answers to the survey above -- it might affect how people answer!

No, seriously, I feel most everything your saying as far as how I see myself as well. I definitely FEEL post-gay or whatever in my sexual desires and activites, BUT, I understand there's still current need to have specific 'gay' identities in certain political (and psychological) arenas.

I think my sexuality is fluid when compared to folks who seem to have theirs in a box. But I don't necessarily think of it as fluid in non-relative terms. Like you said, it just is.

I think there's such interesting and fascinating and problematic stigma attached to the identity and word 'bisexual' for multiple reasons, so I was just curious to see a bit more about what people might think or identify on the subject.

Thanks for sharing and expanding your answers!
