it's broken.
Aug. 10th, 2001 09:15 amthe heatwave, that is. went to dinner last night, then for a post-dinner drink at G___'s apt. I'm so spoiled by ac units, that I could barely cope in her apartment. Then suddenly, in the span of 30 seconds, I suddenly felt comfortable. I looked outside and the trees were bent sideways from the wind and right before my eyes the water started dropping from the sky. Immediate refreshment. I drove Damon home, then attempted to park in my neighborhood, but there was NOTHING within a 3 block radius. Possibly more. So I hid in the alley, ran inside and packed a couple things, and drove back to the other apartment and stayed there. Last night it smelled overwhelmingly like a grandparent's house. The weird combination of hot, damp plaster and wood, with a bit of dust and must. It weirded me out.
I finished Fight Club (which ended better than the movie) and started Invisible Monsters, but my eyes were drooping too much, so I went to sleep. Sleeping on a twin bed confuses my dreams and I fear tossing and turning because I may fall out. But after this weekend I'll probably put together the double bed.
I need to buy curtains this weekend. Waking up at 6 am by natural sunlight feels good at first (better than the jolt of an alarm), but losing the hour of sleep hurts me later in the day.
