Stayed home from work yesterday because I just felt too bad. Today, I'm still sick, but chipper. Also there's not pain factor -- yesterday I had the body aches and day-long migrainish type headache. Today I'm just sniffly and a little sluggish. I need to go back to drink Emergencees every day to keep me healthy. Though my new theory is that every time my hormone dosage changes, my immune system gets compromised. Hmm.

I got a voicemail today from someone I have been successfully avoiding -- the photographer friend of a friend. She left me a message at work, since she called my old number which has been disconnected. Oops. Actually, I DID give her my new number (reluctantly), but she probably just lost it. Anyway, in her message she mentioned that she had been off on vacation, and wanted to tell me all about it as well as hear "how things are going your wife". I listened to the message twice more and realized she was actually saying "life", not "wife". That's a little different. So I e-mailed her, gave her my home number, and then suggested we catch a movie sometime, perhaps with Br__ and St___ as well....I need a buffer -- can't do the one-on-one time with her.

The day has gone by sorta fast....but then again, I can't believe I have more than an hour to go at work. Argh.

Tonight I'm probably going out to dinner with Melanie and the Wicker Park Posse, which are the artists formerly known as the Hyde Park Posse. I think she was surprised when I asked if I could go along. Sure, they can be bizarre folks to interact with socially (no offense), but I guess I just don't want to give up easily and write them off. Besides, I don't want to the cliched alienated boyfriend or whatever -- that seems so Cosmo or whatever ("10 Sexy Secrets to Make Him Like Your Friends!"). Plus, I really like fish and chips. So why not give it a go?

I think there's a pretty good chance I won't be doing my tarot gig next Friday. I still haven't received the contracts, and now there's info saying that the city is making budget cuts. Hmm. I can't say I'm horribly bummed, since I wasn't so much looking forward to the evening itself as I was looking forward to the money. I'm glad I procrastinated on getting my costume. I also can't help but think about MelRo's law school homework and wonder if I have a tort claim....probably not. Damnit Pierson! Oh wait, that's property, not contracts.

I just checked my voicemail at home. Something funny is going on methinks. I just got a voicemail someone sent me a couple days ago. Wha? I've definitely checked my messages since then.

Exciting plans for the weekend? A possible trip to Krispey Kreme and Myopic Books with Li__ and Gr___ on Saturday. That's about it, though. Maybe I can finally catch up with folks I've been trying to hang out with for the past couple weeks......

1. I wish it was possible to speak with footnotes. Though maybe I should just reduce the number of references.

2. Just got talked to by my boss. Wasn't very happy with the most recent brief and my (lack of?) work on the matter. Ugh. But the meeting itself wasn't horrible, I guess. All things considered. Some of the mistakes were obviously mine, but some of the matters I feel weren't. Ugh again. She mentioned me not doing full cite checks on the brief and seeing if they're good law. Um, hi, I was never taught that. She also mentioned that the table of authorities was messed up. But I didn't give it to her as a final product -- I gave it as a draft because I had to leave and work the event last Friday. Ugh, ugh, ugh.

I'm thinking about putting in a little overtime in the next week or two to get completely caught up on all the random piles of papers on my desk, plus getting everything I do completely reorganized. I'm also thinking about compiling a manual which would help myself be more organized as well as prepare for my eventual departure.

I guess it's better to hear this now so I can get things reshuffled and have things running perfectly by the time my review comes around in December.
