how do you want it?
Apr. 2nd, 2002 02:55 pmI think I'm a little TOO excited by Joe's return to livejournal, even if only for today. At least we'll always have today.
My boss was 'kind' enough to wait and file the brief today. Though it wasn't based solely on my return, of course, but I had the pleasure of taking the jaunt over to the court moments ago. It was nice to have the brief completed at a leisurely pace, i.e. I wasn't racing the clock with the copier and binder machine or forced to engage in a sprint through the Loop.
This week is very complicated. I'm feeling specific cravings to contact and visit with certain, but they're equally balanced out by my territorial growling over my time schedule. I'm extremely resistant to give up even an hour, or even 5 dollars for an activity such as lunch or beer or coffee. This is sometimes a symptom I have when my time is overbooked, but my calender isn't excessively packed with activities this week -- it's about average. Actually below average. Maybe my brain is just on cruise control from the previous weeks when every night was occupied with a requied activity.
Or maybe I should just give in and spend my lunch hours eating a sandwich from home and reading a book, hiding from co-workers and meetings. And spend my evenings listening to records and watching TV and reading magazines. But I genuinely DO want to see certain people who've offered playtime activites -- it's not just guilt or obligation.
I should follow the rule that it's better to underbook than overbook. I behave much better if I have too much time on my hands then those days when the only moments alone are in the bathroom or on a commuter train. And that's not really alone.
But the good news is the workday has practically breezed by. I'm still reaching for the absent radio to help occupy my brain, but I think this time I should try to quiet the noise with actual work-related thoughts, such as "which task should I complete next?" Such an innovative concept, it's almost familiar.
Oh, and one more thing from yesterday. DJ supply stores suck. For not having smartmedia memory cards. Why don't you stock a small but pricey supplement to the equipment you sell? I curse you and the snow-delayed Belmont bus. But I did pick up a free zip disk on the long walk home.
