oh my sissy spacek.
Sep. 3rd, 2002 12:22 pmI've sneezed so many times that the back of my nose and throat are raw and sore, similar to instances when excessive pool water has been inhaled and the chlorine burns the sensitive membranes. I don't like it. I don't like these extreme allergy attacks. Some people sneeze tiny sneezes, several times in a row. Or they do one big sneeze. I do several big sneezes in a row. I sneeze so big that my head gets thrown forward and I often get speckles on my glasses (assuming I was caught off guard by the sneeze and don't have a tissue or hand in front of my face. Which is happening since I'm sneezing so violently). So far today my computer monitor has been spared, though I'm not sure about my keyboard.
This weekend we played the game "Trading Spaces", but in our own home. We pulled everything out of the closets and put them back in again, only without any garbage or unneeded items, and usually in large tubs with labels. So many tiny tasks accomplished, like a new toothbrush holder, tacking the speaker wire down, a new shoe rack, new futon cover, re-sorted laundry piles, one new curtain in the bedroom (NOT two because Ikea SUCKS!!!!). I'm not sure it adds up to "big changes" in a stranger's eye, but for me I feel like I'm just moving in. Perhaps that was my motivation for the weekend -- the passing of August 31 without my transferring households. This is the first September in....seven years where I wasn't getting used to new digs. I like being stationary, even if it only ends up being for another year.
Last night I watched Badlands. I'm getting ready to view the Terrence Malick "trilogy" this fall, with Days of Heaven coming up next. I thought it perfect to pair Badlands with In the Bedroom (another Netflix rental), and seeing how far Sissy (the darling of 80's Academy Award nominations) has come. But tonight's cinema lineup will most likely be pre-empted by two things: 1) working on mix for my current collaboration project with Poet Friend and 2) American Idol. I thought about planning some sort of event surrounding this episode, but I think I'd prefer to lie on my new orange futon and drink beer.
Other News: The new attorney is nice. Work is busy because of illness absences. I spent lots of money this weekend, but have some nice housewares and many new clothing items. Outlet malls and Michigan City is my new favorite location, because it's so different from my current day to day existence. Oh, and Lance is supposedly not going to space.
