Who's that dipping in the Cadillac?
Sep. 17th, 2002 10:39 amSix hours in the car on Friday, six on Sunday. Most of them spent in the left lane going more than a little over the posted limit, except for 20 minutes on Friday when
grocerygetter called and I traveled in the far right lane going 55 while on the phone. Apparantly I still managed to piss someone off in Cleveland since some strange man in a Pontiac Grand Am told me he was going to beat my ass. Of course, he said this while exiting the highway. I didn't like it. Mostly because I'm scared of straight white male rage, especially in Ohio where they might wear hoods or carry guns, and also because his grammar bothered me. He obviously is not going to "beat my ass" if he's driving away from me. At least just stick with swearing and name-calling and not empty promises. Angelina suspects he wanted me to follow him to Lovers Lane.
The wedding was great. Seriously. I'm not a wedding person at all, but I left the ceremonies actually wanting to get married. Strange, believe me I know. I was also just very moved and touched by seeing my friend and her family and the outpouring of affection and blending of rituals and genuine celebration for all the parties involved. Plus, the food was tasty, the drinks were free, and the main celebration took place in a fabulous cabaret Vegas-style conference/banquet facility with a hallway of fame featuring all the "greats" who've played Akron, Ohio, not limited to Loni Anderson in "Gentleman Prefer Blondes", a pre-"What's Love Got To Do With It" Tina Turner, Jamie Farr, Chubby Checker, Blackstone the magician, Betty White, the Temptations, Peaches and Herb, Emmylou Harris, and many many more. Brenda and I decided I should have my wedding here, in Akron Ohio, but utilizing the stage to have performances. We further decided my entire wedding should include drag and drag performances -- the wedding party consisting solely of drag queens and drag kings, and a post-ceremony performance. I would also like to add karaoke.
Yesterday I stayed home. I'm suffering from the same allergies/virus that half the world seems to have for the past few weeks -- one day I'm sick, the next I'm not. Plus I woke up with a migraine which usually requires an automatic 3-hour nap to cure. We spent the day like a Sunday, including einstein bagels, getting Sophie bathed, and a trip to the grocery store. The evening brought episodes of Sex and the City and eating shrimp.
We hired the paralegal applicant I loved. I'm excited. Work is quiet this week with the boss traveling for work and no interviews. That's the general update for now.
