A huge migraine came upon me last yesterday afternoon, which debilitated me for the majority of the evening. On the plus side, I did make a decision. I didn't buy the tables. But I did buy the two new cartridges and decided instead to buy a CD player that also burns CD's, since the market on audio CD recorders has dropped in price. Yes, yes, I'm finally ending my resistence and soon I'll be making mix CD's. I'll be making tapes too, don't worry. But there's no reason to not expand my repetoire.
Moneywise, I'm only spending about a third of what I was looking at yesterday. Plus, if I'm really looking into spinning at more clubs, I don't need to worry about bringing my own tables. And I can still practice at home on my crap ones -- I just need to devote more time and clean up my workspace. Including getting a really tabletop and not hunching over an IKEA coffee table. The new cartridges will also help beef up my decks. Maybe some new slipmats, too.
I also decided I need to really devote more resources to selling myself and landing gigs. The CD Recorder will help in sending out press kit type promos and I'm also going to put together a real webpage, so if I'm handing out business cards I don't have to be apologetic about the web address.
To Do list for the next few weeks:
- Get a wysiwyg program for my website because I'm lazy and I sold my html books in a moment of poverty.
- Find a better table for work area and rearrange storage of tapes and magazines.
- Put together a sound/audio resume on paper and for on-line
- For website: take photos and type up mixtape playlists.
