Finally, I can't be fired from my job.
Nov. 6th, 2002 01:50 pmAs of noon today, the city of Chicago officially prohibits housing and employment discrimination based on gender identity. I attended the city council meeting to have it passed -- it was extremely anticlimactic and boring and quiet (as it should be I think), but seemed so strange after being surrounding by chanting rambunctious firefighters wanting a new contract and raise and opposing the city councilmen giving themselves a raise. We were in the balcony behind plexiglass that muffled most of the noise downstairs. I also ran into Clever Embitered Auntie, which was a pleasant surprise.
After spending the morning there I had lunch and now I should attempt to work, but I'm majorly drowsy. Maybe I'll crawl under my desk and nap since my main bosses are both out of the office....or at least rest my eyes when the IT person comes to fix my word perfect at 2:30.
