With some gentle prodding from MelRo, we went to go see Far From Heaven down the road. I sort of wanted to see this movie, but not with enough fire to motivate myself and others to make it happen (this unmotivation is probably true of 90% of things released these days). I'm quite thankful we went as I rather enjoyed it. A little bit different than I expected. I found it to be straddling these line of absolute campy and honest beauty. Costumes were Oscar-worthy and fagalicious, music was stellar and perfectly appropriate in every single scene, and the cinematography was gorgeous. And there's no happy endings here, which helps the refreshing lack of glossing over issues. I mean, for a less than 2 hour movie. There's always some glossing and summarizing, I suppose.

I felt in this movie like I did after Umbrellas of Cherbourg. Strange comparison, I know. Plus, I'm just happy when I see Julianne Moore living up to her potential and not in something like Evolution. And she looked fabulous in the movie -- all busty and glowy. Not at all like the tiny thing I saw in greenwich village a few springs ago.

Angelinababy, tell me your Julianne Moore story again. I can't find it in your journal.

MelRo is in bed reading. I should go too, but I'm strangely transfixed by the Neil Young video for "This Note's For You."
