While gift certificates always seem like a delightful gift at the time, I always stress during the actually shopping process, in part because I want to get the most for my money while also purchasing things that meet a strange combination of items that will be long-lasting and well-loved while also possibly being something I wouldn't normally buy for myself with my own money but would appreciate it in gift form. These parameters are impossible to stay within.

Also not helping the matter is the Amazon used marketplace, which fluctuates in price. Should I buy this item off my wishlist now because it's remarkably cheap, or get something I want more? Should I buy said item today, or wait until tomorrow when it might be cheaper?

I should be so lucky to have such problems, I suppose. I mean, obviously, my struggle to spend a generous christmas gift is the least of my problems, and I'm perfectly okay with my ability to gripe and worry over the miniscule items on the life agenda that can be easily and reasonably solved. I can't do as well on the larger issues, like family estrangement, credit card debt, job dissatisfaction, floundering career path, questionable sexuality (and its discontents) or the mass commercialization and corporatization of the world at the expense of people's sanity and lives. So instead, I just wander around Amazon.com and deal with the minute problems that can be solved.
Hey now, you're a rockstar.
