raybear: (i'm a popstar)
At the risk of ruining it due to unforeseen circumstances and acts of god, I will be having a late lunch with [livejournal.com profile] gotmce99 who's on her way up from Champaign. We have had several other ill-fated attempts to meet in person. Okay, maybe just two. But those chances of a lifetime, when they got washed down the drain, it can be painful.

Today I'm wearing my beautiful hat that [livejournal.com profile] greyandred made for me! I wish I had a webcam so everyone could see me wearing it at my desk while working. Several co-workers have complimented it, including one of the attorneys who said "as someone who learned to knit and made many hats for people, I appreciate you wearing it with enthusiasm even if the knitter is in another town!" Thank you very much Sarah -- I love it. I'm a vision in fall earth colors. Oh, and it fits just fine -- not too short at all.

While I'm on the topic of livejournal shoutouts, I should also mention that I spoke with [livejournal.com profile] sean7232 on the phone last night for about half an hour before Myles (aka [livejournal.com profile] nabnag) arrived on my doorstep. It was like a virtual mini-True Spirit reunion right in my foyer. Myles and I went to get food at beloved Nookie's and regaled each other with tales of obsession and fufness.

I'm exhausted right now, but it's nobody's fault but my own, like Beck. Sometimes being sleepy makes me feel more present, because I spend so much energy on how many more hours I have until I can go to bed. Just five more minutes. Just one more hour. Next thing I know, it's 12 am and I do it again, like Jay-Z.

Today is a major lyrics quoting day. It started when the car radio played Beach Boys "Wouldn't it be Nice". Then later me probably waking the neighbors by blasting Coldplay's "Trouble".

1. Margaret and I were successful in finding each other for lunch! We met in this quaint little Irish pub by the museum known as Bennigan's. But hey, the food was decent and we could sit and talk in this nice high-back fake-mahogany booth. Besides, I wasn't in it for the burger, I was there for the company. [livejournal.com profile] gotmce99 is completely charming and funny and laidback, all things I suspected but it's nice to have them confirmed. She even walked me to my door.

2. Why is Ashanti's "Happy" my new favorite song? I'm always discovering random pop singles about nine months after they're released.

3. During an e-mail exchange today I was reminded of a paper I planned to write in college that compared the theology of Godspell with the theology of Jesus Christ Superstar. Instead I ended up writing about how lesbian separatist politics compares to liberation theologians view of queerness. I chose unwisely.

4. I've listened to Sparky's mix CD so much in the past two days I might break it before I have a chance to give it to her -- but it's so much fun for brightening the workday. I hope she enjoys it as much as I do.

5. Suddenly this last hour of the day is torturous. I'm so exhausted. Currently my plan for the evening includes a nap, a phone date, and then going to bed. I might toss some dozing in if I have time.
