Last night was possibly the last trivial pursuit game, at least for awhile, with the dream team of
vfc,
thebrownhornet,
limenal, and me, though perhaps I should not include myself after my wonderfully stellar move of blurting out the answer to Damon's question. Maybe I'm just unconsciously fond of offering my friends something to give me isht about it. Limenal is leaving town Saturday and only returning for a few days next month to essentially pack up and move to San Francisco. TheBrownHornet will also be packing up and moving in September down to New Orleans. While I'm sure Liza and I will still be holding it down in Chicago and maybe playing the game with just us or even with new players, it won't be quite the same. An end of an era, as Limenal is fond of pointing out. [Speaking of
limenal, happy birthday!]
This morning I've been fairly productive on my to-do list, but it's always easier when there's a mix of activites -- in between translating a poem and critiquing other translations, I called my tattoo artist to discuss my design. I also just got off the phone with Layered and she mentioned a piece of hers getting published in Blithe House Quarterly and I was completely shocked and overwhelmed that she got a piece in, so I got online to look at submitting a story of mine and realized I was thinking of Tin House Quarterly. Oh. Never mind, [Basically "Blithe" is an online LGBT literary journal that doesn't pay and "Tin" is a print literary journal with an actual circulation (rare among literary journals) and pays well in addition to the whole BS prestige factor.]
I should wash some dishes and make some food and read these Salinger short stories that aren't going to read themselves. Which is unfortunate for me since I'm not particularly enjoying them.
