Last night I started to drive myself a bit crazy by overconsuming news on the hurricane devastation. I suppose it's human nature to react more to something that's more closely connected to your experience. My best friend was down there. I just visited New Orleans and Biloxi. I spent my childhood in the south. Oh, quick report about [livejournal.com profile] thebrownhornet: I called up Quincy and she left me a message saying he's still fine, and getting ready to head to Houston sometime soon to catch a plane to southern California and "the safety of dry land and into [her] arms".

At some point I had to quit and washed dishes to distract myself. I didn't stay away too long. It's like I'm straddling this line where wrapping up myself too much into the situation seems histrionic and insulting to those actually surviving out there, but staying ignorant of the scope of the situation and not pushing for accountability seems dangerous as well.

But I'm not all serious business. Last night [livejournal.com profile] dommeyourass and I had a 5 hour marathon of Six Feet Under that was only briefly interrupted once to.....make noises that might embarass our neighbors, shall we say.

Last night I had a dream that [livejournal.com profile] mintwaster and I were playing badminton in her backyard while both wearing only white t-shirts and white briefs, but she didn't have a shuttlecock so we were playing with a biscuit. A premonition?
