Sometimes when people sink to new lows, the results are hilarious while inducing an aneurysm.

From the New York Times:
"I have no problem with the demonstration, but this is a business. Couldn't they have protested in the morning before work? Couldn't they have protested in their hearts?"

- CHARLEY BOHLEY, a restaurant owner who fired 10 workers after they attended
an immigration rally.

Thank you Charley Bohley, for the new ridiculous phrase in my life "protesting in their hearts".

I had strange dreams last night involving trying to make a lot of people happy but failing at it because of lack of time and energy. Hmm. I finally got a talking to from Catherine about it, who helped straighten me out in a very loving but honest way. Thanks Catherine. I have no idea who you are in real life.

Last night I watched the movie "Thumbsucker" while eating dinner and giving myself a break. It was pretty boring, neither here nor there for me, even though I did sorta love Tilda Swinton's subplot but maybe I'm just biased towards her. I thought the movie was a perfect example of using moody lyrical music to artificially create emotional arcs rather than use the tools of the medium of film itself. Lazy lazy lazy, says the guy who's never made a film in his life but still has strong opinions on how it should be done. Can we issue a moratorium on using Elliot Smith and Polyphonic Spree in any movie from now on until....forever? Add Jeff Buckley to the list. Also Peter Gabriel. Simon and Garfunkel. Who else?

Writer's conference application is done. I will eat my blueberry scone first, bike to the post office, then come home and pretend to work some more before all-you-can-eat brunch.
