Last night [livejournal.com profile] dommeyourass and I pedalled down to Empty Bottle to see some music -- our friend JH went to college with these people and said, hey, come out and hear them! So we showed up early and had a couple drinks at the bar and chatted with one of them about their trip to Detroit, and then I chatted with the other about Louisville, and Los Angeles, and being married and balancing creative projects and needing part-time jobs to pay rent and keeping a schedule to making creative work, and it was totally pleasant and chill and normal, just like any other party or situation where I'm making nice with friends of friends, but then once or twice during the night I'd have a moment of nerdy hipster starstruck where I wanted to text everyone I knew and say "OMG, I'm having drinks with the Watson Twins!!! Come to Empty Bottle and meet them and see them play!!!!!" The place was pretty empty last night, which made me sad for them, even as a selfish audience person who doesn't like crowds. It was so empty, that 50 more people could have showed up and still never touched me or entered my immediate surroundings.

I spent half of yesterday with a headache, which is sort of crappy way to spend a Sunday afternoon, and it was completely heat/allergy induced. Ugh. Insert whining and complaining about October heat and humidity and joke about apocalypse. Because really, at least I wasn't hospitalized or killed by it, like a marathon runner. That isht is sad.

On Friday night after the Redmoon show we went to Feed for a late dinner and I did not order chicken. I know, I can hardly believe it either. I got the 5 sides (mac-n-cheese, black-eyed peas, mashed potatoes & gravy, fried green tomatoes, and spinach). And there were STILL two sides I was sad I missed (corn pudding and fried okra). So I might go down there again for lunch this week and get chicken and the missing sides. Except Jyldo got the pulled pork sandwich and that was pretty good too. So many delicious choices. My appetite for heavy food has increased now that it is fall and my circadian rhythms are saying, gear up! Well, they were before this weekend when it was 85 degrees with high humidity and a summer shower. A summer shower! I got caught in one of those weird rainstorms on Saturday where its raining and sunny at the same time! Ok, sorry, I slipped, I already mentioned the weather already.

With my guitar strumming revived, I also cleaned off all the old bumper stickers that decorated the case, most of them applied during the earnest late high school/early college days, with slogans about feminism or being a free spirit or justice for all. Now there is only one sticker on it, small and red with white lettering that says "We Are All Imperfect".
