Last night I was just bad enough to make me determined to get up there and do it again. I don't mean "bad" as an objective description of my singing voice, which I understand is just okay and rather limited. I mean "bad" as in not belting it out and giving it my all and providing entertainment for the masses. And next time, MelRo and I will nail a better duet -- I have complete faith in our abilities to shine. Maybe I'll drive and let her do the drinking.

But other than that I was in heaven. Absolute heaven. Horrible out of key renditions of Carpenter's "Close To You" and "Proud to be an American". Hilarious renditions of "Silent Lucidity" and "War Pigs". Brilliant interpretation of the "Humpty Dance". More David Bowie than you could shake a stick at and monotonous versions of Jewel and Natalie Imbruglia. And then there was Cassandra who tore up the Annie Lennox version of "Train in Vain" while casually holding her cigarette.
Resolutions for next time: more forethought in choosing songs in my range, more braggadocio and silliness and interpretive dance, and a pack of Camel lights. And more songs, less jack daniels. Ooh, my aching head.

Liza, I hope you realize we're going there the first Thursday of every month, if not more often.

What songs did you perform?
(Sir Mix-A-Lot's "Baby Got Back" is always one of my faves - bad interpretive dancing and all)

MelRo and I did Carly Simon/James Taylor's Mockingbird, and I did Petula Clark's "Downtown". I was hyped to do "Keep Your Hands To Yourself" but we had to leave! Next time, next time.
