Sometimes astrological configurations feed into cultural events in strange ways. Today, the earth comes between slow-moving Jupiter and even slower-moving Neptune in a rare astrological event that is associated with the idealization of beliefs and the confusion of social perceptions with reality. Our office didn't open until 11 am, and so I "spent time with the family" by going to the dog park with the dog and the girl and getting our favorite asiago cheese bagels from Einstein's. Simple pleasures and like, I suppose, is my motto for the day. I've largely avoided TV, though I specifically woke up early to hear the names being read (even if the stupid network didn't show the entire list....jesus fcking christ, people, it's not that hard -- I'm sorry if you feared viewers would get bored).

This evening I have therapy. Strangely enough, I was supposed to have therapy last September 11th and didn't go, because well, I thought it was obvious. Turns out I was one of her few clients to cancel or not show up -- most of them went anyway. I'm sure that says something about me, but I won't go into it.

And just for the record, I haven't really cried about anything. I keep wavering between legitimate mourning and grief and fear that I'm falling into a media-induced sentimental trap.

I almost called Angelina last night while finishing up this tape to help me decide which England Dan & John Ford Coley song on this tape. I briefly considered 'Nights Are Forever Without You' but went back to my gut and chose 'I'd Really Love To See You Tonight'. Is it strange that in my collection I have their album under "E" for England? I'm normally a stickler about last names and alpabetizing, but I didn't want to chose "D" for Dan and then get mad when I couldn't find the album -- so instead I'm considering them a 'group'. I have problems sometimes alphabetizing rappers in my collection, because they will have a two word name, but it's not really their last name (e.g. Ghostface Killah). Most times I alphabetize by the first letter, but occasionally I order them by their faux last name because it's how I think of them (e.g. Beanie Sigel, Pharoahe Monch).

Wow, this is just fascinating. But it's how my brain works -- combining intense overanaylsis of OCD behaviors with larger emotional reactions and large philosophical concepts.

In conclusion, fuck you, Dubya, for prolonging this madness for an entire year. Fuck you, Giuliani, for making me like you just a little. Fuck the whole "moving on" in such a way that acts as if things didn't happen (and fuck people who prolong things for the purpose of selling a product or a new story). And I don't really care whether god blessed the u.s. of a., but I do "heart" NY.
