I'm not sure which end is having the problem (possibly both), but this week I've had problems loading my friends page. I hit reload again and again and again and again and it never updates. If I attempt to access entires a different way (e.g. through other friends' friends page), I can see the entires. I'm quite frustrated. Maybe it's a sign I need to stop reading my friends page to vigorously.

Last night I watched John Woo's The Killer. I enjoy action movies, particularly if they are suspenseful and/or cinematic and/or well-choreographed and/or well-acted. And this movie definitely fell into all of those categories, but I'm starting think it's too difficult for me to watch action movies alone -- sharing reactions to the big fight scenes is the main part of my enjoyment. Saying "daaaaamn" outloud to no one but the dog is not quite as satisfying. Nevertheless, the movie is excellent and highly recommended.

I also loved how the movie had some token female love interest, but the real relationship in the film was between male friends. Apparantly, John Woo is some big Christian in his private life, and his movies are all about loving a friend so much that you'd lay down your life for them. Which makes for some great homoerotic tension.

AND this movie is the source of a sample of Raekwon's first album. Anyone familiar with the opening sequence in the song "Rainy Days" will recognize the film score as well a bit of the dialogue. I watched the movie in Cantonese with subtitles, but switched over to the english version just in time to hear, "I sing for him, and he is not here."

In other reviewing news, Real World is back and it's on pogs. I'm thrilled at how trashy it was right from the get-go, and although there are no queer-identified individuals, there are definitely some sluts who will probably be engaging in some same-sex relations, shall we say. Plus we have The Effiminate Heterosexual aka I'm a Straight Male Bartender in a Gay Bar. Now I know why they got Foxy to do the promos -- City High's wholesomeness matched the boring drama of Real World Chicago, but they needed Ill Na Na for Vegas-style adventures. Chicago got shafted.

In Other News, I've sold several books on Amazon which won't make me rich, but it will greatly improve the feng shui of my apartment. Work is busy (it's taken me 30 minutes to write this short entry) and I'm behind, so I should get on that and resist temptation to e-mail everyone and their mother. Literally their mother, since I still haven't gotten around to responding to the Mary e-mail. Maybe after I finish mailing this round of rejection letters.

and strangely enough, i was totally turned on by the whole fiasco! i don't normally get hot for drunk hetero PDA's, but something about the way they filmed it worked for me.

p.s. hope this week ends better than last week -- sorry about all of your fiascos!
