Musings on Pop Culture
Sep. 27th, 2002 04:02 pm[It's Friday. I need something going on in the background while I work to help amuse me and make time go faster.]
* Why do you suppose Chili and Usher got back together? Maybe because of Lisa Lopes death? I mean, isn't "U Don't Have To Call " about their breakup?
* On Monday evening, Damon and I are going to see Public Enemy with Blackalicious and Dilated Peoples in concert. I'm rather stoked, except for the fact that Flavor Flav won't be there because he was arrested in New York last week. Isn't he a bit too old to be pulling these stunts? I mean, ODB is a little old for it, and he inherited the throne from Flav!
* How come countdowns on VH1 when hosted by men only need one host, but when hosted by women they need five? Wait, I guess Paula Abdul hosted the dance countdown, but there's still Kevin Bacon, Dermot Mulroney and Jeff Bridges who've counted down an entire 100 spots. And don't get me wrong, I love Lauren Graham from Gilmore Girls, but is she really popular enough to do a music countdown (even a VH1 one)?
* Justin Timberlake and Alyssa Milano?? Weird.
* I really want to see the movie "Lovely & Amazing" again. Go see it. I'm going to buy it.
* I bought the DVD for "Scratch" at Tower today even though it's not supposed to come out until Tuesday. Oops for them, yay for me.
* Michael Crichton's house was robbed! Apprantly he was tied up at gunpoint and they ransacked his house. Last week, this cop in Chicago was killed by a Metra commuter train when he was standing too close to the tracks, and his sister happened to be on the train that killed him. For some reason, these two things seem like things that happen in movies that I never believe happen in real-life. I guess I'm wrong. Or I'm collecting information for a screenplay.
* I don't normally comment on stupid Bush administration moves because I wouldn't want to occupy this entire journal, but THIS is pretty fcked up and dumb.
* Why do I want to see "The Banger Sisters", despite the cringe-inducing previews and title?
* I'm FINALLY hearing the Fifth of Beethoven sampling song on the radio. That's all. It's pretty boring.
