Saving the world before bedtime?
Oct. 28th, 2002 10:07 pmI'm really not much of an alarmist or believer in the nature of the apocalypse, and yet....lately more and more things are happening in the world where I find myself thinking more and more "wow, that's the type of fcked up shit I'd see in a movie!" But it's real. Excrutiatingly real. And sometimes I just wonder if it's another notch, another tick on the doomsday clock. If our world really is on the verge of imploding.

Date: 2002-10-28 09:35 pm (UTC)I'd say that the world has been fcked up for a good long time though, except lately we've found more precise and dastardly ways of offing ourselves and others and creating general malaise. Obviously the stuff about climate change putting NYC underwater is something new, but that's due in large part to the onset of the reliance on oil and fossil fuel usage and hacking the fuck out of the local flora and fauna.
I'd like to blame Dubya, but I think the problems started long before he did unfortunately. ;)
Maybe we're coming to the next revolutionary period..I read somewhere (can't remember where at the moment but..) that societies tend to have revolt/revolution and whatnot every 30 or so years. Hrm.

Date: 2002-11-01 11:36 pm (UTC)i've read some things about how big time revolutions come around ever 2-3 decades, and that most of them start off with some type of assassination.\
It's just that any New World Order that comes from any of the insanity going on these days will probably be aweful thing. People seem ready to die & kill for their causes a lot more....i don't want these people to rule the world.
