There's always someone there to catch me.

On Friday afternoon I felt I was in the mood to watch movies, and I sure did capitalize on it this weekend. Friday night I purchased too many reasonably priced or cheap DVDs, including the extended Lord of the Rings set, Final Fantasy, Carnival of Souls, and a 2-pack of L.A. Story and Novocaine. The last one was a bit of a stretch, but it really was cheap. Apparently my conscience was eating at me about it, because in a dream I was reading the back of the DVD of L.A. Story and read that it was a 5-hour movie version -- basically a 90 minute comedy shot three different ways and spliced together. Maybe I was just mixing up LOTR with Steve Martin. We tried to watch the new full version on Friday night after sushi, but we started to fall asleep before they even made it out of Hobbitshire. But that's why you buy movies, so you can watch them whenever.

On Saturday I saw "Bowling for Columbine" with D.B. and ate Boston Chicken afterwards. I'm not sure why I keep going to that place since it's so outrageously overpriced. But the movie gets a thumbs up anyway. In the evening MelRo and I watched "Dancer in the Dark" which I saw in the theater but wanted to see again and just needed to wait two years so I wouldn't end up slitting my wrists. It's not quite as gut-wrenching a second time around when you know what's going to happen (not that I didn't know the first time, but I still had hope at the end, like a dumb American movie fool). I had more heart twinges this go round for Catherine Deneuve. I really want to marry her very badly, and I don't really say that about celebrities too often. I need to get famous really fast so we can meet at a party. Um, I'm not kidding.

Today I was planning on leaving the house more, but it just didn't happen. Though I got some writing done and heard the story of Damon's date and we watched "Insomnia" after Simpsons. Not bad. I probably wouldn't have liked as much if I saw it in the theater, but as a rental it's a good little piece. And it also stars Maura Tierney who I love but don't want to marry. Yet.

And that pretty much brings us current. Now my characters are doing something but I can't hear them talking, so I need to do more thinking before I do more writing. And I might make a CD soundtrack to accompany my book. Or atleast something for me to listen to over and over and over again when I'm trying to pound out the last 10,000 words.

I'm running behind on my novel. I have to get back in gear.

I was wrenched each of the three times I saw it, but then again, I saw it in a theater three times. And I hear you about the celeb party. I'll invite you if I get something going on...

Is "Shop Girl" going to become a film? I think I heard something about that.

if you love Catherine Deneuve...

I know! I know! I'm neglecting my husband-to-be duties! Maybe next weekend.

well, the sooner the better, you know. you need to tell her how much you loved it so she'll be swayed to accept your proposal! ;)
