Today's horoscope, brought to you by the punks at Astrocenter.com

Dear RAYMOND,
Right now you could be as giddy as a schoolgirl, RAYMOND! Today your mind could be on love, not on work. You'll be flirting with your secretaries and creating scandals. You could send some enticing email to someone that you have a crush on. You'll be in the mood to take some risks and have fun. It's good for you to express your playful side once in a while. Mr. Cancer stays hidden inside his crabby shell too often!

I can't help but feel a little insulted by that dig at the end. Oh well. Also, I don't feel particularly giddy or flirty today, but maybe I just haven't had enough coffee. I don't feel crabby either. In fact, I'm feeling remarkably work-focused.

Last night I watched the movie Moonlight Mile and it wasn't that great of a film, but the story and the idea and the setting was fascinating and different, and some of the actors' performances just killed me. There were a couple of melodramatic over-the-top ones too, and the general unevenness of the pacing and character developments is part of why the movie was just okay, but I'm really glad I watched it and some of the moments will stay with me for awhile. Also, I was reminded that Susan Sarandon is a damn good actor, it's not just that I like her a lot as a celebrity.

Discover card has been calling me a lot (I made a payment two weeks ago! I'm not even late!), so last night I actually picked up the damn phone to see what they wanted, since I figured they're probably just on some campaign to sell me something. The fckers hung up on me. They hung up on me! I went online to check out my statement and it depressed me. Also, my April rent check cleared yesterday. Just in time to pay May rent. More bastards in my life.

I've changed and washed my sheets more in the past month than I may have in the preceding six months. This would maybe annoy me except for the fact that it signifies I'm having lots of sex. And no matter how broke I am, I can hold on to this treasure and not worry about losing it as an activity even when my bank account goes negative. Unless, of course, they start requiring payment for their services. That would suck.

Today I'm listening to one of my all-time favorite mixtapes that Madness Librarian made for me, and we've traded several in the past few years. It's a fabulous collection of new and old pop songs, borderline guilty pleasures and it never fails to sustain me. Even though the song Smooth by Rob Thomas/Santana is on it. Sometimes I don't even fast-forward through it, but mostly I do. Side two has some great gems from the 80's, including Sheena Easton's For Your Eyes Only. I need to listen to my album of James Bond movie theme songs more often. Sheena's song is my second favorite of all-time, with the number one spot going to Carly Simon's The Spy Who Loved Me (aka Nobody Does It Better). Perhaps I'll ask Damon to download the more recent Bond songs and make me a volume two for my collection.

Enough of the jibber jabber. I need work.

I pretty much dislike Dustin, even in the good stuff. I mean, I don't hate him, I just have no affinity. But his character in this movie sort of fits his spastic behavior of late.

Also, Jake Gylenhall plays a different character than The Good Girl/Donnie Darko/Lovely & Amazing person! I think you would definitely appreciate the movie on a lot of levels, even if it's not perfect or great. And yes, Susan is absolutely amazing, which is worth it even though it's only a supporting role. There's an amusing small "cameo"/bit part by a well known actor you would probably appreciate which totally surprised me. I mean, not funny in that the character is funny, but more that I was luaghing in a "what are you doing here?" way. But they did a good job too with their four scenes.

You know the funniest "what are you doing here" cameo I've seen recently? In 'The Glass House' (which sucked, but you prolly already knew that) Chris North shows up for two scenes in the beginning and one scene in the end.

I just sat there and went, "Chris Law & Order North? Chris Sex and the City North? He couldn't have been cheap - they must have cut like an hour out of this film!"

I enjoyed Dustin's 70's performances - when he was more... subdued. The 'Rain Man/Outbreak/Wag the Dog' Hoffman I'm considerably less fond of.

I prolly will see that film. Although I didn;t like Donnie Darko (I seem to be the only one) I did like Jake in The Good Girl and it's got Susan...

Do you ever watch the HBO show "Mr. Show"? I give it the award for the most bizarre cameo in the entire world. In a skit guest-starring Jack Black called "Jeepers Creepers" which is a hilarious takeoff on the movie Jesus Christ Superstar, Jeanne Tripplehorn pops up, sings 16 bars, then jets. So strange and amusing.
