This is a direct quote from a staff meeting yesterday. Actually, my boss and I said it at the exact same time. For those not fluent in pig latin, we were talking about not using dildos as props when having a pride float filled with supreme court justices, since we're required to maintain a level of respect, being a legal organization and all. I may hate my job, but I love my office.

Despite yesterday being an intense day in the cosmos, particularly on the issues of loss and death, my mood was lightened by post-work booty, a good therapy session, frozen pizza, and the movie Tadpole. I really really loved it, probably more than I objectively should, but here's the thing -- aside from the location (New York City) and socioeconomic status (wealthy and intelligentsia), this movie was a remarkable combination of one part how I was as a 15 year-old and two parts how I wanted to be as a 15 year-old and one part how I thought I was as a 15-year-old. And instead of a stepmother and her friends, it was just my mom's friends. But I swear, some of the women I desired and flirted and developed strange quasi-sexual friendships with were nearly as hot as Bebe Neuwirth and Sigourney Weaver, at least to my teenage self. Though I don't think any of them work leather skirts. Also, the soundtrack is great and further solidified my assessment of it being secretly stolen from my brain when the next to the last song was "The Only Living Boy in New York" by Everything but the Girl.

I took an extremely long shower this morning and sung old hymns while shaving and put on gay jeans and a gay belt and a Brooklyn Funky Club t-shirt given to me by someone I need to call today.

In the meantime, to entertain myself and others, a game, in the form of a poll!

Unlike today, the majority of my subject lines are song lyrics (like many of the people on my friends list). Sometimes it's from the song in the "current music" box, but not too often. So here's a matching game to name that tune. I will list the possible artists here, then you can write in who you think sang the lyric. I thought this might be easier than naming the song title and artist, though if you know the song but aren't sure of the artist, feel free to write that in as well. Also, one answer will be used TWICE, and one choice will not be used at all. Just to be annoying and tricky. Good luck, and preliminary results will be posted at the end of the day.

ANSWER CHOICES:

Shakira
Kate Bush
The White Stripes
Aimee Mann
Bjork
Mos Def
Magnetic Fields
Guys & Dolls (the musical, not a band)
Sade
Everything but the Girl
Missy Elliot
Jonatha Brooke
Trick Daddy
The Flaming Lips
Bob Marley

No, I'm just a big esoteric nerd! Besides, you answered correctly the Bob Marley one, and it's one of my all-time favorite songs ever, so bonus points for you. ;)

if you're musically illiterate, what am i? a blind untreated dyslexic?

and i like to consider myself quite the fan of EBTG and missy elliot, with some strong familiarity with bjork, shakira, kate bush, and guy's and dolls. yet NOTHING looked familiar to me, except the sade lyric which stuck out like a sore thumb.

ahhhhhhhh.....i hate raybear so much right now. [and i know raybear knows who sang that lyric]

oh c'mon, i made it easier by providing the artists' names....just take a stab at it.

besides, i know you know at least half those songs -- in fact, some of them might be on CDs you've listened to in the past two days!

this poll has shown me that i'm an even bigger nerd than i thought. the up-side is that i was convinced my subject lines were terribly transparent and silly, but now i see that's not so much the case.
